I don’t know much about Scottish politics, but it sounds like the SNP is finally facing the question all nationalist parties eventually face: apart from independence, who are you? Are you really an economically and socially progressive party. Or is independence your only thing and every other policy is up for change depending on how many votes you can muster from it?
@ianbetteridge Sure, but you can be for protecting the environment while holding any position on things like immigration, healthcare, defence, and whatnot.
@ianbetteridge I find it amusing you think that is a question only for nationalist parties. To me it’s been a constant that Labour and Tories can never quite decide who they are either. As always, parties are coalitions of folks who have different ideas of what the party is all about, nationalist+internationalist or not.
@bobthomson70@ianbetteridge both Labour and the Tories are nationalist parties. And determined to hang on to their goodies until they have transferred the monies involve to London and the SE of England.
