Being on the left side of the political spectrum is so exhausting.

It's not that you only fight nazis, capitalism and conservatives.

No you also have to fight with other left people.
People that think you're too left.
People that think you're not left enough.

Every time you say or do something there are mostly dissenting voices.

As I said. Exhausting.

@kaiserkiwi I doubt that is unique to being left leaning. The problem is the inordinate number of people who seemingly can't use their brains well enough to figure out that few things in life should be so polarized, or that there are better things to do than trying to control others. Plenty of those types in every camp.

@kaiserkiwi ... and everybody outside the left bubble is laughing on us.

@Wheeliam To be fair: Everybody inside too.

@kaiserkiwi Sometimes I feel like this is especially true for mastodon. I just want to have this nice space to chat with people and spout my nonsense.
But too often it feels like there are two sides to an argument about how it should run that need to have your input and anger right now.

kaiserkiwi,
@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com avatar

@Narfinger This. Actually this current discussion is the reason for my post.

Is everything perfect? Probably not. But is everything fine? Absolutely. It's still fine. Even when far in the future there might be a threat.

kaiserkiwi,
@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com avatar

@SkyfaR Naja, rechts ist schon deutlich simpler. Dadurch funktioniert es ja auch.

Nazi 1: »Ich hasse Juden!«

Worst case! Es hätte definitiv eine andere Lösung gegeben!

Und ja, das ist extrem auslaugend.

@kaiserkiwi Hmmmm, interesting. I've experienced this also.

Funny thing is, I grew up fundamentalist Christian conservative, so very right (although the right wasn't nearly as far right wack-a-doo like they are now), and this was the number one argument that Republicans had about Democrats over here in the US. They would always say that the Dems were bad because they wanted to "control your thoughts" and "tell you how to talk" and this is where the whole idea of "culture wars" stemmed from.

I'm no longer Republican nor conservative, but it's kind of interesting to see that the right wingers were actually kind of right on this front. The biggest enemy that the left actually has is itself in so many cases. If they could just agree with the same cohesiveness as the right does, they'd be a lot more formidable.

kaiserkiwi,
@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com avatar

@SynAck The political party that is literally called "Die Linke" (The left) ripped itself apart in Germany because there were too many different left views.

The same time a far right party gained so much. Just because they let everyone in as far they're a bit right. They even have queer people and PoC as party members despite the fact their program is against them.

I understand why so many people lean to the right these days. It's so much easier. So much less work.

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@kaiserkiwi @SynAck The too many left views is a massive problem, had this experienced in my active time decades back. It’s hindering anything meaningful in process sadly :/

kaiserkiwi,
@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com avatar

@kwantumkraut @SynAck This. 100% perfect or just let it be. It's pointless when it can't be perfect. Oh more than one perdon is involved? Perfect is now impossible.

whitefish,
@whitefish@corteximplant.com avatar

@kaiserkiwi there always is something you made wrong. And always someone’s advising you how to do it a better way. :/

kaiserkiwi,
@kaiserkiwi@corteximplant.com avatar

@whitefish Exactly this.

"Oh you have something that is nearly perfect? Nice. But wait… NEARLY perfect? You're the worst person on this planet!"

whitefish,
@whitefish@corteximplant.com avatar

@kaiserkiwi yeah I know. Oh you’re doing so well on saving the planet (or whatever just example). But you can’t cook this or that because it is bad … and so on in every part of life they will find something bad :)
