@julia You're on Sharkey, not Mastodon. So it's fine. They said "don't share our links on Mastodon", so there is nothing wrong with sharing them elsewhere.

looks like they're using a CMS called https://ghost.org which is written in JS. i'm not gonna go through the trouble of setting that up or reading through the code but i assume it's running on code with questionable efficiency
