@mjg59 symlinks are way more problematic than sharing inodes. I’ve actually solved problems with the latter but the former have only ever caused them for me.
Both symlinks and hardlinks act in very surprising ways when a person interacts with them and none of the tooling does what one would expect. (Moving/renaming one or the other often breaks both relative and absolute symlinks. Hardlinks have no indication that they're linked and changing hardlinked data changes both "files".)
But reflinks? They're nice. Free copies/snapshots, basically.
@garrett@wjt@mjg59 May I throw file-bindmounts into the ring, to add another way of having multiple references to the same content, again with subtly different semantics?
