No, really. I've survived an uncomfortable number of layoffs over the years, and most of them only happened because leadership fucked up/didn't want to do the hard work of restructuring.
That kills morale, and it depletes the company's accrued experience and expertise.
Anytime a company does layoffs, you should interpret that as "Wow, their C-suite really don't know how the fuck to run a successful business."
@carnage4life as someone who has avoided mass layoffs at a profitable big tech company: LABOUR RIGHTS. The main reason I and a lot of Europeans weren't fired during these layoffs, is simply because it's not legal here; they'd have to prove their hardships, they have to backfill their open positions with the people they're trying to fire first, etc.
Fight for your rights, if the USA had EU-style labour rights, this kinda crap would be much, much less prevalent than it unfortunately is today.
