I have such highly developed ad blindness that the Crush ad didn't even register with me. It took me awhile to understand what the complaints were about.
I wonder if it would have gone over better if instead of showing things being destroyed, they showed the objects fusing together. Kind of like how we think of a diamond being created.

I watched it multiple times and don’t have a problem with it.
Obviously people haven’t seen what happens to stuff that gets sent to the dump.
God forbid they watch an animal being slaughtered. It’s not pretty either.
@caspercdn@jackbrewster Apple may have read the room poorly on this, but I think a lot of the pile-on came from tech pundits who had nothing else of substance to complain about from the event and decided this was the thing to hang Apple for.
@flargh@caspercdn@jackbrewster This is precisely it. The whole thing reeks of the terminally online podcast people scrambling for something to get up in arms about in the face of a) a pretty pedestrian incremental update and b) the growing irrelevance of the Apple media in general.
@angry_drunk@flargh@caspercdn@jackbrewster I think you hit it on the nail with the irrelevance bit. Gruber et al no longer “matter” like they used to, they’re no longer feted, they no longer have MWE et al to be worshipped at.
Even the WWDC is reduced to videos only and slack just isn’t the same as people crowding 3 deep for a moment of your time.
No fun being the boy king of a dead, abandoned kingdom.
