Every now and then, I give other (non-federated) microblogging websites (MBWs) a chance, and they are all very consistent:

  • Threads: I never get any reactions from anyone and zero replies to whatever I post.
  • Bluesky: Similar to Threads, unless I post something in Croatian language. Then I get a reply or two.
  • Twitter: As I have 2500 gaming followers there, sometimes they react to my posts, but a lot less than on the Fediverse. Not even remotely comparable.

Question: Are all other MBWs dead?

@darth I think threads just had a failure to launch, last I checked like a week or 2 ago they still had not implemented hashtags, which is basically core for any social media these days.

Twitter was on its way to the grave before Elon bought it and fucked it up. Ultimately it’s gotten overrun by bots and porn.

@RemeJuan yes, I agree 101% that Twitter has been on its way to the grave for quite a while. I was actually hoping that Elon has an idea to fix it, but so far he did nothing positive with it, IMO.
