Reuters review of TX property records shows SpaceX & its contractors can be far slower to pay builders, suppliers than they are to break ground. Unpaid bills, finger-pting among contractors have led many construction-industry businesses to file liens against SpaceX properties in efforts to get compensated.

Result, several of those businesses told Reuters, is reluctance to work on SpaceX-related projects again. "If they were to call me today, I'd tell them to fuck off".. https://www.reuters.com/technology/space/musks-spacex-is-quick-build-texas-slow-pay-its-bills-2024-05-13/

@GottaLaff It's almost like Musk is a Trump business clone 🤔

@GottaLaff I require space companies to prepay all orders... I am not in the business of providing loans... And taking that risk...

@GottaLaff
They should do like the contractors in NJ did to Trmp: inflate the bills so they don't lose money when he only pays half.

I worked at a Fortune 500 company’s production plant. At one point after a re-org, we were routinely missing chemicals or parts or supplies from the small local specialty businesses. Because some dumbass MBA in the finance and accounting squadron decided he could slip their payment terms to 90 days from 30. As a result techs would sit around waiting and bill overtime but first line managers were too meek to say anything up the chain. A whole quarter went with low production (1/2)

yields and higher than normal wages and then upper management investigated this “anomaly”. That nutjob MBA failed upwards and was given a promotion to another department and away from our division. But the goodwill with local suppliers was permanently destroyed. (2/2)

Friend was a contract systems consultant/programmer, and he hated dealign with Fortune 500 companies, because his 50K bills kept getting lost and accounting.

For some reason that, not paying promptly, isn’t surprising.

@GottaLaff billionaires get to be billionaires by screwing people over and not paying their bills and exploiting their workers

Yup. Looks like Musk is reading “Art of The Deal” and using that to make business decisions.
I thought SpaceX had a better leader in Gwynne Shotwell but it seems Musk still controls the puppet strings.
