meanwhile in there US, Boeing's troubles look to be about to get (even) worse.

After the two 737Max fatal crashes, the US Dept. of Justice agreed not to prosecute if it addressed the issues that had led to the engineering mistakes that causes the crashes... some saw that as letting Boeing off the hook.

Now the DoJ has decided that the agreement is off because Boeing had not honoured the 'deal'; might we now see major prosecution of Boeing?

@ChrisMayLA6 There will be some back room deal done - I'm sure they must be major donors to one senior politician or other.

Yes, I'm sure there will.... the Seatle establishment will be seeking to ensure that... but the Q. might be how far it goes publicly before its stamped on.... it may in the end prove fatal to Boeing, in its current form at least

@ChrisMayLA6 Tbh I'm surprised Boeing have lasted this long, given the endless stream of serious flaws in their planes over the last few years.
Accountability isn't a thing any more though, is it.

@fkamiah17 @ChrisMayLA6 they’ll be kept afloat by their military contracts. They make very, very expensive bombers.

@Nicovel0 @ChrisMayLA6 It'll be interesting to see what, if any, effect the BDS protests have - if they're at all similar to how Elbit have been affected here, it might create more impetus to hold them accountable.
Might.

@fkamiah17 @ChrisMayLA6 nah Boeing is at another scale altogether. They provide strategic weapons systems, at least that bit of the company will be kept alive. There will be almighty legal action with Airbus arguing that the military contracts are essentially subsidies, but they’ve gone in the same business themselves. The wheel will carry on grinding.

@Nicovel0 @fkamiah17

yes, fair comment.... but if they also drop out of the sky the USAF will not be best pleased

@ChrisMayLA6 @Nicovel0 As long as the pilots have time to eject, I think that would be a suitably karmic end to the story.
