I subscribe to a philosophy mostly aligned with anarchosyndicalism or maybe anarchocommunism- but when people ask me how to prevent robber barons or horrible crimes like murder, I'm not really sure how to respond. I usually say something like "well, most people don't like murder and robber barons so we would collectively use social power to prevent such things or punish people" - but this is unconvincing to most people. Is there a better answer?
I've also recently stopped calling my beliefs anarchist because most people have a VISCERAL reaction to the word. I think maybe the situation could benefit from a bit of rebranding. Like, same beliefs under a new name... which annoys me, but it seems to work. Most people really do want liberation and freedom, on the left and the right, but there has been so much propaganda and programming that causes people to have ReAcTiOnS to certain words...
@terraboop I always respond by saying that law and order prevents people from enacting any sort of justice, so that will be regained when they are free to respond without worrying about going to jail, etc. There are lots of large scale anarchist societies in history, less in the present.
