Tangerine UI is a custom theme for Mastodon's Web UI. It features a soft color palette, a bubblier look, round avatars, and a more compact timeline that should be easier on your eyes.
Tangerine UI auto-switches from dark and light mode based on your OS preference, and comes in 2 variants: tangerine 🍊 and purple 🪻
@sebaldj ich bin bei sowas immer ein bisschen vorsichtig weil drittthemes bei updates gerne mal zerbrechen und eine langfristige pflege oft nicht garantiert ist...
@nileane Great work! I wonder when @Gargron might use some of the great web interface design ideas for the official site? Surely that should be coming soon
@nileane very nice. I like how it keeps the Compose UI onscreen. I don't get everyone's love for Elk that forces you to scroll all the way up whenever you want to send a toot.
Thank you so much for your kind comments 🧡
I’ve been having a blast making this. I still have lots of little tweaks and fixes on my todo list, but feel free to send me your feedback if you’ve got any :)
I also hope to make other color variations and add support for the advanced web interface, but let’s take on one thing at a time 😅
I have now added instructions to the Github repo if you want to install #TangerineUI as an optional theme on your Mastodon instance :)
This will also allow you to set Tangerine UI as the default theme for your Mastodon instance, while still letting your users revert to any of the default themes if they so choose.
@nileane getting some wild bugs when i installed it on my instance and then enable it on my user account (gif wouldn't upload, static pic used instead)
If you follow these instructions, your users will be able to select Tangerine UI as their preferred theme in settings under Flavours → Vanilla Mastodon
(Many thanks to @shad who's been a huge help for this!)
