#KansasHighwayPatrol is big angry that the #court slapped an #injunction on them for their regular practice of violating the rights of #drivers passing through their state. They say the conditions dictated by the court are just too onerous and impractical. Apparently, respecting the rights of the drivers they stop is just too unreasonable and unfair. I'm expecting the judge's response to be, "Did I stutter?"
#YellowCenterlines give #drivers the wrong idea about how to share our limited street space. This bus driver is giving lots of room, and driving where they would be if #Terwilliger were an #edgeLaneRoad makes for a much safer and more pleasant #pdxBikes experience, even as the bus passes us going uphill. Wider bike lanes and a narrower shared center space would reduce speeds and put the conflict between streams of traffic with matching bumpers, requiring drivers to slow down and pay attention.
#drivers will yell "you're going to get your kids killed on that thing" at parents on #cargoBikes but pushing your kids in a stroller, on a crosswalk with the walk signal, is far riskier. 😞
The #Malaysian determination & insistence on reverse parking into every mall parking lot & you are stuck waiting for them - together with 10+ cars behind you - as they take their own sweet time to get it just right
special traffic jam in hell for #drivers who shout their safety concerns at parents on bikes while using their phone and speeding (edit: after running a stop sign and turning right on red 🙄 )
Amazing stuff in this video of Denver's #quickBuild#tacticalUrbanism street designs @activetowns this is what north america's #trafficEngineers need to be doing, like mini-roundabouts for the price of a speed hump 😍, choke points mid-block on side streets, let's go!!! I particularly love how much they are squeezing these car lanes, if you want to change culture, only give #drivers like 3in of slack and engineers can go "🤷 just slow down, it'll fit" 😎 #ClimateAction
if you want to change the culture, fire cops (and traffic Engineers) who say stuff like "there are motorists out there that are driving in a way that kills people. Absolutely. But there are also people that are on bikes or pedestrians that need to be also more careful with what they’re doing. So it is a shared responsibility ..."
If every sign has to be put well out of the way of #drivers hitting it with their car, and everything that goes in the roadway needs to be forgiving of being run over with a car, is it any wonder that cars are out of control? City #trafficEngineers need to throw away the highway design manual and figure out how to design streets with obstacles that will break drunk people's cars, and the cars of reckless scofflaws.
Compiling a Linux kernel with mt6762 support right now. :blobcat_praise: It is very limited in scope for now. (Just the clocks, pin control, and basic SOC drivers are added.) Hopefully this is enough to initialize the SOC so I can begin mainlining. :blobcatroll:
Intel GPU drivers now collect telemetry data on "which types of websites you visit, which Intel says are dumped into 30 categories and logged without URLs or information that identifies you, including how long and how often you visit certain types of sites". It also snitches details on your computer and "other devices in your environment", as well as "how you use your computer" (no clarification provided).
In one small #study, it was proven that #cops who begin #traffic stops of #Black#drivers by issuing commands rather than explanations are more likely to escalate.
The rate of traffic stops for #white#motorists in this undisclosed #city was much too small to be able to provide #data that would be #statistically relevant...
Update on the iMac 2009 with #PopOS@system76 : sadly the Nvidia 9400M is not supported with the latest kernels.
Using a PPA, we can install a patched set of 340 series drivers (last supported for the GPU), but got artifacts and occasionally a freeze.
Reverted this and rolling with Nouveau. Just hope at some point we have opennvk and Nvidia just does the right thing and start supporting their gear on Linux.
#drivers ed apparently does not cover the locations in your neighborhood where people walking or biking have been killed with cars due to the state highway dept's negligence, even though the infrastructure remains deficient
one of two (2) #drivers who drove through an intersection WHILE a fire engine with flashing lights and siren was in the intersection, was in a hurry to park in the bike lane to bring a shopping cart to safeway. #DriverAccountability bot, send ticket, credit my account
