When it rains, it pours
But you didn't even notice it ain't rainin' anymore
It's hard to breathe when all you know is
The struggle of stayin' above the risin' water line
Well, the sky has finally opened
The rain and wind stopped blowin'
Well, darlin', I'm just tryin' to tell ya
That there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head
If you could see what I see, you'd be blinded by the colors
I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
"At the end of the day that left us breathless / We lean on each other / We close our eyes and fall asleep comfortably / Dreaming again / In the slightly unfamiliar tomorrow / That will start over again countless times / I think we will be okay, I think it will be shining / The rainbow that connects your and my heart."
Apparently, Jukebox Friday Night has a theme of "Mothers."
Normally, I'd be literal with a theme like that and go with a song that talks about Moms. But, my Mom is a Spring-nut (her words) and loves Bruce Springsteen, so I have to just...pick a song that reminds me of my Mom, at least to start.
"For Mothers' Day on Sunday. Or for motherly or grandmother figures .. Or Mother Earth or Mother Ocean. Let's remember mothers good, great, and troubling."
So for me, it has to be JHope performing for his Mama .. all the feels. 💜
Happy Mother's Day FediMums, including those who 'mother' in all the non-traditional ways, and love to all who find this time hard. 🌷
I shared this one recently for its political messaging, but the title holds for tonight. And it mentions forced motherhood.
🎶Can't sell that record, don't like that song.
We know what's right we know what's wrong.
Can't have abortions, what's yours ain't yours,
Just obey the laws.🎶
Yet again, it frustrates me to listen to an old song that is still so relevant (to parts of the US, anyway).
Ha. 2-for-2 of me thinking "I'd like to share a song off this album. I wonder if any songs mention a mother. That song looks most likely. Check lyrics. Boom."
Dead Flowers "Dorothy Rae"
🎶Mama me mama mo
The time has come for you to go
There is no need in keeping hold
Mama me mama mo🎶
An unsettling time in any mother's journey, I'm sure: sending her children into the wild. Bittersweet, I imagine. "Yay, I'm free. Gosh, I hope I raised them right."
