#Welkenraedt, Belgium 🇧🇪, in May 2006. A picture taken before the opening of the high-speed line between #Liège and #Aachen 🇩🇪: this is why we see a Cologne-bound #Thalys passing through the station. To the right: two #SNCB#NMBS class AM 62 “classic”trainsets built in the 1960s.
#Bahn

The bad thing is, I would actually agree with the systemic descriptions and the connotations of #TechnoFeudalism. If you factor in the #TESCREAL dimension of #Elmo and the #PayPalMafia et al, you even gave the medieval "beliefs" dimension. And no-one will argue that if you receive millions of dollars of seed capital, you owe your #liege aka #VC#fealty. And, yes they collect rent, and yes, they either inherited the "rights" or acquired them, charging rent.

You might not initially expect this from Belgium or Wallonia, but honestly, this project and its progress in #Liège sound fantastic! #JustTransition#food#sustainability
(and they really put me in an optimistic mood, too!)
It is not only possible... it's already being done.
Great piece on the Transition initiative the Liege Food Belt, 30 new food coops, 300 producers, 100 schools commiting to local, organic food, a market and House of Sustainable Food, a soup club feeding kids.
And it all came from a question - what change can we concretely effect within our lifetimes? What they arrived at was this: “That in 35 years, one generation, the majority of food consumed in the Liège region would be grown locally in the best ecological and social conditions.”
