Got caught up in prepping for the long weekend to post this earlier! I wrote a little blurb about Brandy Clark's stunning self-titled album for the Nashville Scene's Another Look column!
This week's queer country playlist features Joh Chase, Autumn Nicholas, Izzy Heltai, Jenny Owen Youngs, Lizzy Lehman, Lydia Loveless, and Shadwick Wilde! Crank up your speakers!
After 2 decades in LA, Maia Sharp is ready to turn a new leaf and be her new self on Reckless Thoughts. We discussed her nee confidence in the Nashville Scene!
It's baby's first Hester Street Fair! Come for the queer country zines, stay for the indie comics with art by Angela Boyle, enamel pins, and linocut prints!
I'm not sure if you've seen this or realize how big of a statement Tyler Childers is making with this video. He is drawing his line in the sand, and is guranteed to piss off a ton of his more right wing fans.
He is making sure that they know that he is for love.
All of that being said, it is a BEAUTIFUL song and piece of art on its own.
Thank you. It's not the first song of his that made me cry, but it is SO beautiful.
If anyone likes old-school Outlaw #country#music I can heartily recommend Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson as the few cis-het white men trying to be allies.
There is also a huge amount of #QueerCountry out there now!
Might as well take this opportunity to offer an invitation to any/all accordion, polka, Norteño, zydeko, Appalachian, folk, klezmer, mariachi, #QueerCountry and/or bluegrass fans or musicians to let me know if you're at all interested in a Southern Artist/Musician Antifascist activism or just fun conversation with no nazis.
