HEAVY HISTORY 52 years ago today 1972, ALICE COOPER released his highest charting single, ”School's Out”, which hit #1 in the UK, #2 in Ireland and #3 in Canada (photo credit above: Joel Barrios). 35 years ago today (1989), Canada’s M.E.A.T. Magazine launched...
Someone mentioned #schoolsout and my memory skipped straight back to Roger Scott’s Three O’Clock Thrill on Capital Radio, working for the Mencap playgroup during my sixth form school holidays, and this:
My #JukeboxFridayNight song for the #SchoolsOut theme is "Precious Heart" from Street Fighter EX plus Alpha which has some of the most gorgeous video game tracks ever, but I really like this one which is Sakura's theme. I think it fits because her stage is on a school campus in what appears to be summer and it has a very "school's out" feel to it, especially since it's a fight taking place and the campus is deserted. Like they're just using the school lawn to fight on on a weekend or holiday. It's honestly one of my favorite game tracks of all time.
Here's The Linda Lindas with "Growing Up". What happens to teens when they leave school.
We'll dance like nobody's there, we'll dance without any cares
We'll talk 'bout problems we share, we'll talk 'bout things that ain't fair
We'll sing 'bout things we don't know, we'll sing to people and show
What it means to be young and growing up
