Well, another #PyConUS is done (for me - #Sprints continue for another couple of days!)
It was excellent catching up with old friends and meeting tons of new ones. Pittsburgh was definitely a super cool vibe, 2025 should be fun too.
I'm looking forward to recharging my depleted physical batteries, so I can jump into all the important work we have ahead of us to continue to support this amazing community.
Yesterday was my first time doing #sprints at #PyConUS (or anywhere), and I didn't know what to expect coming in. From the time I asked "is this the @coveragepy table?" to when I left, a table of complete strangers were so kind, funny, helpful, and patient as I explained my idea, got set up, and started hacking away while asking tons of questions all along. Thanks to @nedbat@grohe43@marcgibbons@kevin and the rest of the sprinters for being the best example of what #OSS collaboration can be.
#Sprints - Letter to Self (2024). This new release is the debut album by a Dublin quartet led by the fiery Karla Chubb, who sounds like PJ Harvey channeling early Chrissie Hynde. The band is a pop-punk quartet alternating quiet, brooding passages with eruptions into sonic fury. Pixies, IDLES, and early Siouxie inhabit the group's DNA. Opener "Ticking" is a tense wakeup call, and "Shaking Their Hands" is a scorching statement of purpose.
This morning during the DjangoCon US 2023 sprints, with Will Vincent we showed his Django Microframework repository based on Carlton Gibson 2018 talk, and then I showed my optimized version. 🤯
I helped out with the CPython sprint at #EuroPython last weekend, we had one room for code and another for documentation, and merged some 140 PRs in total! It was rewarding to help people make their very first contributions. Thanks to everyone who contributed, plus to all the organisers and volunteers!
Here's a great writeup on the conference and sprints from @ambv:
