Charles Kickham, Fenian, novelist, and author of Knocknagow, was born in Mullinahone, Co Tipperary on 9 May 1828.

"Thank God, there are happy homes in Tipperary still! But .....but KNOCKNAGOW IS GONE."

Knocknagow novel was widely popular and the young Michael Collins was once found weeping over the sufferings of the peasantry in the novel.
