I've been in and out of Glasgow University's Graham Kerr Building, home to what was the Zoology Department when I was an undergrad, many times over the last 30 years, but it was only yesterday that I noticed this wonderful little detail of a snake on the handles of the outermost doors.
Separate side-by-side bells for Visitors and Servants at the entrance to a 1870s Townhouse on Athole Gardens in West End of Glasgow. The fact that even the door bells are more ornate for the visitors than the servants says something about the times these buildings were built in.
The entrance to John Honeyman's Early English style 1864 Saint Silas Episcopal Church on Eldon Street in the West End of Glasgow. Those hinges are seriously impressive!
This gorgeously crafted bronze or brass door knob is another of the beautiful little details on J.J. Burnet's 1880s townhouses on University Gardens in Glasgow.
Love this beautifully sinuous animalistic brass door pull on a Victorian townhouse in the west end of Glasgow. I've no idea if it's original or not, but it looks like it's been there for some time.
