I see a lot of icosahedra with numbers on the faces. I thought I would try engraving one of the wooden ones with those. I didn’t want it to be too plain. So, I made some knotwork to go around the numbers.
Monport spam has shown up with a new tactic. In response to someone asking for help with an Omtech machine, they wrote some vague "well try something else" and praised Monport tech support, and suggested reaching out to Monport for support. For an Omtech machine. The text appeared to be designed to poison consumer sentiment AI summaries to favor Monport.
I don't care whether this is currently considered fraud by a legal definition. It is clearly a morally corrupt attempt to manipulate buyers. Before you buy anything from #monport please consider whether you want to support this kind of behavior.
It's still less work to manually approve every legit post on Maker Forums about Monport than confirm and clean up all the arriving spam about Monport.
The code allows for 3D and 2D versions, so you can either print or cut feathers ( #lasercutter#vinylcutter#cricut) and will generate an array of feathers based on how many you specify.
In addition to the #OpenSCAD code, there are example files for 3 different types of feather in #stl, #svg and #dxf format.
I've used this to good effect with some of the 'hinged box' designs for presents and gifts.
But this is more practical, a sorting tray that took an hour from thinking about it to fully assembled. So tight it doesn't need glue, and fully #recyclable once it gets manky or superseded.
