Why can’t we all agree that what #Phish is doing now is incredible at this stage of the game—defies all expectations for a 40yo band.
But it’s also fairly formulaic, the newer material is largely a big downgrade, and overall it’s not on the level it was when they were hungry and out to destroy the world.
It’s still the best show on earth. And that’s fucking amazing—especially when you look at how soft and squishy their play was from 2017-2020.
Loved S1 last night but S2 was pretty up and down. And overall last night just doesn’t have the firepower of N1

Ranking the visuals from the couch is akin to ranking restaurant dishes from Instagram photos. Still, seemed like they used the Sphere better last night than N1. Given that these are planned shows, N1 wasn’t a learning experience. So assume N3 will be better than N2 and N4 > N3.
Not a bad show by any means, but both sets and the encore felt a step back from Friday.

Ranking visuals from the couch is so dumb, but here we are. I thought Pillow Jets had the coolest shit of the run. Taste was up there, too. But overall, Friday seemed to be a notch above with some stuff last night seeming repetitive and underwhelming -- at least in comparison to what we've seen the Sphere do.
Wednesday sunrise in Las Vegas. For #Sphere, #Phish, and #Eggy wooks, we've got decent weather. No crazy wind. Upper 80s today, mid 80s with clouds Thursday. It gets dark around 7:30 p.m. and we'll be in the 70s each evening and 60s late at night. Upper 80s Friday and low 90s this weekend will be great pool weather. Midday sun is strong enough in April that a sunburn can happen in 15 minutes; sun protection and hydration catch tourists (and locals) off guard every spring.
Sometimes I wonder what happens if instead of it only happening once during a unique, benefit gig #phish decides to cover Eno on a more regular basis*
Even from Another Green World "I'll Come Running" doesn't seem like the track that logically makes sense for them to cover yet here we are
*(and no, I'm not putting their brand of "ambient phish" in the same vein as the genre he created except perhaps in the intention of creating music to fit the space/mood which they do so well)
