So many people are reporting postal issues. Hopefully the lost cards are all found in a sack somewhere and eventually make it to their destinations, but in the meantime, please enjoy this digital card I made for you.
This card comes to you from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, aka Wellington, NZ. It's famous for it's wind, but also those legenday "good days" when it's all blue skies and easy flying. Please enjoy the stunning South Coast, some serenity from my garden, and some airport humour. ❤️
Anyone who wishes to is welcome to also use the #PostcardSwap hashtag and post a card. If you do so, please describe it in your post, using alt text, or both.
It's a real shame some of the physical cards appear to have been lost (through no fault of the posters!), but that doesn't mean we can't still share things with each other.
If you would like a personalised digital postcard emailed to you, please let me know and that will be arranged.❤️
After a long dry spell, my PO box was stuffed full of cards today, mostly Postcrossing but also three Postcard Swap cards, yay! Here's a little thread.
A little while ago I came across some fun NZ postage stamps and bought a few for the next #PostcardSwap
Tonight I'm getting my postcards ready and do you think I can find the stamps?... I've obviously put them somewhere too safe and now can't find them 🤦♀️
Looks like I'll be making a trip to the Post Shop tomorrow...
My first postcard arrived today. A lovely handmade card with a photo taken from the Tower of London taken by the sender. Just lovely. And it got here from England in just eight days. Impressive. Thank you!
Nearly forgot to post my #PostcardSwap#hints .... I love getting mail, so anything you send will be appreciated.
If you want to write a message (you don't have to), here are some ideas:
📬 Tell me about where you live (country or town). If I visited, what are the must do things as a tourist?
📬 Do you have a book recommendation?
📬 Are dogs or cats better? Justify your argument.
📬 If you could meet famous person through history, who would it be and why? What would your first question to them be?
Ok folks! All the #PostcardSwap emails have now been sent! If you signed up and you haven't received an email, or there's an issue of any kind, please DM or email postcardswap@protonmail.com and we will sort it out!
The postcard sending deadline is the end of October, so we've got plenty of time.
If you haven't already, now would be a good time to pin a hints post to your profile (just make sure it's visible) for your swappers. Let's do it!
OK #PostcardSwap people! Emails have started to go out! We are double checking everything as we go, so you will all get your matches over the next day or so. Yay!
I have now received all of my #postcardswap cards but have only seen that 2 of the ones I sent have been received - hopefully they will arrive in the next few days, or you have them but haven't told anyone they arrived 🤣
I'm loving seeing all the cards people have been sending and receiving
Got my second #postcardswap today from from Lake #Mangamahoe in #NewZealand. I’m not sure if this is planned or not but arrived after another tough day at work so a great treat to read and research the location when I got home!
a new card arrived #PostcardSwap It's a rather moody photo of a fern (taken by the sender!) and quite lovely! Thank you @swansinflight (photo to follow later)
also a Hairy Maclary stamp! Excellent
Important question - will I be shunned from future #PostcardSwap events if I send a card in an envelope not a postcard? Because I have such a good one for someone on my list!!
OK #PostcardSwap fans! After some gestures at life delays :mastodon_oops: we are going to get the first (AFAIK) Mastodon #postcardswap underway soon! :mastodondance:
Details should be out this week, but at the moment we are looking at:
Registration open last 2 weeks of April (there will be a form)
We have some lovely people on standby to be super swappers (so they can step in if someone has to drop out or needs to change something), so please do let us know if things have changed for you so we can shuffle if we need to.
The plan is to send your cards by the end of May, so there's a bit of time. I will send a reminder towards the end of the month just in case. Let's do it! :partyparrot:
How do I sign off my postcards? However you like. A lot of folk like to put their handle and maybe a name, but you can be completely anon if you like. Whatever you're comfortable with. 👍
Will there be another one?
Absolutely! The next one will be later this year. 🙂
You can follow the hashtag or just keep an eye out as I will post using the tag once I know when this will be (it won't be before August at the earliest).
