I’m still on a computer that is seen as old I guess but I’ve upgraded the graphics card and the memory over the years. It still feels as fast as it always has. Of course I’m on Linux, not Windows with its eternal slowness.

I want to upgrade the cpu too but there is no point really. Everything is fast already.

Does it matter what they admit? These companies always wait for many years to admit anything. By then the damage to people is done.

Of course one could argue that if everyone would vaccinate, almost everyone would be better off, except people with side effects. But I can absolutely understand why people don’t want to risk being that person getting side effects. There is no help to be had if you are that person.

Yup can confirm. Leased a new car six month ago. Wanted to get an electric, but the downsides of electric cars just didn’t make sense. Much more expensive, and worse in winter. Cheaper to charge, but not at all enough to make up the huge extra cost.

When the Chinese make a cheap ev that is better than fuel cars, it’s going to become more profitable than Tesla.

I don’t think it will become popular. People will continue to use terraform since it’s not only the default, but also better in all ways.

We will probably see tofu be abandoned in a year or two.

Wait until they start with the “Chinese cars spy on you”. It was the entire argument why Huawei phones couldn’t even be sold in the US. Despite no evidence at all.

America has the largest spy network on the planet, and all electric cars spy on where we drive, how fast we drive, what we listen to etc. Some even film us while driving for “safety”. But appearently that’s OK, as long as the Chinese are not doing it. :)

Is there any country that is not seen as hostile to the US?

Who remembers their passwords? Use a password manager and it’s as simple as a Google login. It even fills in the credentials automatically on a hotkey.

Ok you have to create a new password the first time you want to register somewhere. But how lazy can people get? It’s also just a button click in a password manager.

How is remembering one master password worse than using Google single sign on with a password?

Make it illegal to serve ads on the internet.

Very few people will have experience with cosmic apps at this point, it’s in alpha state… :)

I think it’s probably the system. Some kind of bug I guess. I’m really looking forward to cosmic too btw, seems very nice. But I guess it won’t replace plasma anytime soon. These things takes time…

Very happy im alive before AI turns all life into algorithms for profits.

Totally agree. Arch is actually a really good, simple system. That’s why so many people pick it as their main distro. Once you have installed it a few times, it’s just very simple how it works. There is no magic.

1984,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

True, I have not installed it. I ran Fedora for a while long time ago and selinux was causing tons of headaches. So I never wanted to have it on my system after that.

Sounds like written by an Ai… But nice with new version I guess. I’ve been gaming on only linux for half a decade now…it all just works.

It’s a great way to see who understands what working in IT is like. Whoever gave that advice is new to it.

Should be illegal to do this. Bait and switch is something we also see with big tech a lot, where they change their user agreements constantly so they can add data tracking and remove any shred of privacy.

An honest reaction… From a ceo? That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. I figured those people were clones and programmed to say the same thing as every other ceo.

Game companies sure are completely disconnected from their audience these days.

When I was growing up, game companies were happy that their games became popular. There was none of this shit going on.

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

I agree with that. He started the entire thing and that’s great, but now he should move on.

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

You are right, he didn’t even start it.
