I can’t get over how cool it is to view my posts from any server. I’m definitely going to use activitypub for my social media I’m planning on making. I was going to use @Discourse , but considering it’s like #GitLab where you are only able to self host and each instance of discourse can’t interconnect makes me kinda sad. But activitypub seems like the only way I feel happy in both ways.
Single sign in to the fediverse seems awful. Then we are logging in to it through American big tech servers. Forget anonymity and no tracking. Probably see ads on the login screen too.
But otherwise, sure. A single server is not always a bad idea. In practice, this is how Lemmy is too. Most people are on Lemmy.world, and they picked that server because they don’t think decentralized is important.
Elon's "extremely hardcore" toxic work culture means people are forced to take Adderall without a prescription to meet their workload. Just ask SpaceX employees.
"Some SpaceX workers resorted to taking Adderall to keep up with the pace of work at the company's launch facility, and others found themselves falling asleep in the bathroom during long workweeks, a recent Reuters investigation found.
"Travis Carson, a former SpaceX worker at the company's facility in Brownsville, Texas, told Reuters some workers took Adderall — a stimulant designed to help people with ADHD improve their focus and concentration levels — without a prescription to keep up with the pace of work."
These are people who refuse to leave Twitter, no matter how bad they are treated there. Maybe they should learn to quit instead of taking drugs to deal with the job.
I know American work culture is “don’t quit”, but come on, there are limits… If your work place is actually insane, you should quit. :)
No wonder this Elon fucker laughs all the way to the bank.
Finally migrated back to Firefox today after a multi year user of Chrome.
What pushed me over the edge? Most of my app icons (keep, pulse, calender, whatsapp) stopped opening in their own windows again.
I had to install the PWA extension in Firefox to get that working again, and it's going to be a slight hassle having to copy and paste URLs from all those windows, but I'm tired of fixing the task bar icons.
Could've gone to Edge since it would work out of the box, but I like Firefox. (except for no native PWA support.)
Edit: found I can right click links in the PWA instances and use the send to other device option to open them in my main Firefox window.
