I did it, learned a lot. But it’s not really a system that can be maintained very easily. You don’t even have a package manager. :)

I like what I do now. 80% work from home in a smallish company without enterprise bullshit. :) We have no standups and no agile shit which is amazing.

Yeah I just can’t take it anymore. And I can’t believe some people take it seriously. People nodding along like npc zombies.

We are living it… You don’t predict what is happening already… :)

I don’t see the US on that list even. They probably wants to build their own lunar base, with robots, and weapons.

Should have this pic in the original post. I don’t even know who the other guy is. Justin Beiber I guess? He is nothing compared to James May.

I think flat earth ideas are fascinating. Guess I’m a bit nuts but I enjoy reading how they explain things. :)

I don’t think they are more dumb than anyone else. If you ask someone random to explain how gravity keeps the water on the surface, they can’t of course. Everyone goes to a web page and looks it up.

So I enjoy reading it. It’s just fun and interesting.

Haha yeah I can see how it’s similar, specially if you have never read about it yourself and someone says “we actually live under a dome”, which means everything must be explained another way, since there is no space, no satellites, nothing. :)

I was about to say that. Who is everybody? I hardly ever use it anymore.

1984,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah I know. But not everybody :)

I started with Rust but now it’s also all Go for backend. I’m just not smart enough for Rust. It’s too much to think about that has nothing to do with what my program is trying to solve.

That being said, Rust is superior in many ways if you can handle the effort of writing it.

Well you could write code in a Ancient Greek if you want, but most people would go for English. :)

I’ve found that some developers enjoy picking more difficult languages because it’s an intellectual challenge they enjoy, and that’s fine, but some also enjoy calling others stupid because they don’t enjoy the same things. That’s small dick energy. :)

Lols what… :) Maybe it’s just me but I like them. :)

Did that over 10 years ago so hope you join up soon. :)

Unfortunately Jetbrains editors are still blurry on both Sway and Gnome in 4k. Only Plasma can handle it and shows sharp text. Not sure what they are doing that the others can’t.

    This was a thing in the beginning, a lot of instances had just spinning buttons on signup if email didn’t work correctly.

    It appears to be impossible to delete a comment in a thread that was deleted

    I’ve got some comments I’d like to delete, but due to them being in threads that were deleted, I am unable to remove them from my profile. Clicking on them in my profile (which is necessary to delete comments) leads to an error screen since the thread doesn’t exist anymore....

    Isn’t this a limitation of Lemmy software and not the Lemmy client itself? Because I’ve seen this myself and I’m using Sync.

    That’s not why most people drive cars. I’ve lived in cities with public transport all my life. But when I got my driving license, my life quality increased enormously. It’s like night and day. Not only can I drive where I want when I want, I can avoid other commuters that are very often loud or annoying. I don’t have to stand at bus stops or train stations and seeing them being delayed or canceled either.

    I agree that some people drive poorly though. But the solution is to train them better, not to get rid of cars. You can hardly have an adult life with family without a car.

    Yeah it sounds extreamly unusual that people in Paris live so close to their home. But I think the French culture is about enjoying life as much as possible. They may choose a job nearby to avoid having to deal with shitty transports every day.

    The funny thing is, I have bought Tesla two times in my life, and both times it has fallen like a stone right after I bought it. I guess I have a gift and I should short it… :p

    Are people really that different in what they like? At least the American movies are portraying the exact same kind of attractiveness, to the point that it gets super boring to watch.

    1984,
    @1984@lemmy.today avatar

    Yeah I agree. There is a lot more to a real life meeting than how people look. That’s why it’s really important to meet people in real life and not on video.
