Power creep is a sensitive subject but especially in gacha games as people can potentially spend a lot of money to win a unit that is incredibly strong but can theoretically be phased out of relevancy with new units. However, I don’t think enough people realise that gameplay mechanics can force power creep more than developers purposely designing obsolescence.

has power creep (Kazuha > Sucrose) but it’s relatively flat. 5* > 4* but the 4* units can be amazing with investment.

@pixel I do agree that Genshin has tried to avoid power creep a lot more. The 1.0 4* units feel at this point it was inexperience that made them so broken and now they’re afraid to go that far again. It’s why the last bunch of 4* units are rather niche and kind of disappointing when you compare them.

I cannot believe the subreddit is begging for the game to include microtransactions or hopes they do an F2P edition, when they’re offering the complete game for $20.

@gmr_leon The original F2P game failed due to lack of money. Now that there’s no MTX but you pay up front, they’re worried that there won’t be enough money to keep the servers on after a few months. That and the paywall will keep potential players out.

They want a constant stream of updates even though the game is releasing content complete. We’re in such a dystopian market these days.

If you’re playing , I do recommend using the controller. It takes a minute to get used to it but the D-pad is far superior to Pro or Joycons.

@RickRae Honestly, it could be better. I’d prefer if it was a book showing concept art, rough drafts and talk about how they got to the final designs, it’s not.

It’s purely a few hundred pages of high res, finished art from beta to 1.6. Promotional art like I’m showing here but with no commentary or analysis. It’s just a very pretty picture book of the 2D art they have for characters and events/updates.

It’s very nice but it’s not interesting.

@ngmi Finding people you know from Twitter on here or finding new people is really difficult. How separated every server is, makes Mastodon really hard to find community. So far, BlueSky has that beat.
