I really hope that when labour gets into power they follow through with the abolition of the leasehold system. Seeing that money leave my bank account each month and getting nothing from it but the right to live in my own home, that I own, is so depressing.
I mean I've been trying to get them to fix the drainage outside for more than a year. If I could just get the right to fix that myself instead of paying the council to not fix it that would be great.
Just stumbled on a video of someone trying to understand the Brummie accent and I'm curious my foreign friends, what are your thoughts on my native tongue?
There are a couple of old Anglo-Saxon words that I've become obsessed with and think we need to bring back into modern English.
Earthfast: literally bound to the earth. It can refer literally to a rock half buried and stuck in place but also can mean a person who is settled. It's like being in your comfort zone and having a place you belong.
Wondersmith: a blacksmith makes iron things, a silversmith makes silver things. A wondersmith makes wonderful things.

It's about a month until my niece's birthday and I've decided to give her a book. Of course, me being me, I can't just buy a book so I have 1 month to write a series of short stories, illustrate them, bind it and gild it.
I know it's alot for a child who can't read yet but I want to encourage reading and for her to think it's magic. Besides what is stress anyway.
Ok FoD, I know you are all waiting for the data science of the Hood to do the calculations. So here it is.
They say that the nx-01 can go to Neptune and back in 6 minutes which means that it can travel at 83.33 times light speed. They also say that Qo'nos is 80 hours away. That puts Qo'nos about 18.25 light years away from earth.
Now there is a star out at 18.214 light years out with at least 1 planet. Gliese 251 in the Gemini constellation.
Just watched Wayne's World and my Q I forgot how good that movie is. It's also connected to so many childhood memories of making skate videos with my friends.
I just wish I didn't have work in the morning so I could watch Wayne's World 2.
It's only taken 5 months but I finally finished my first sewing project in this year's theme.
My fist attempt to fit distressed sci-fi into work wear is what I call Skywalker chic. It's made from a viscose cotton blend (and a black linen waist band) and so is breathable and the pleats allow a more comfortable air barrier while also evoking jedi robes.
Design for the sands of Tatooine and the poorly climate controlled office.
When enjoying a movie marathon it is important to take breaks and go for a walk in the fresh air. And while you are out there takes some pictures for #bloomscrolling
The blossom from the trees may have passed but the daisies and buttercups are colouring every grass verge
Well if this isn't the most depressingly dystopian this I've read in a long time.
Tldr: to fill gaps in your skill base don't hire new people get the people that work there already to do it. There's talk of "up skilling" and training but not of extra compensation for extra work or paying people in line with their new skills. There is however talk of "AI" for some reason.
So it turns out that most everyone that works on my contract is in their 20's. Occasionally a song will come on the radio that they consider old and they all start talking about how they used to listen to it as children.
Then they try to engage me in their conversation and I feel ancient.
