I know the #Bluesky /AT devs & Dorsey (mostly Dorsey) keep saying that “Bluesky” is essentially a proof of concept and will (if all works according to plan) cease to exist once #federation blossoms.
But…
I don’t believe that. I feel the OG server & native clients will be cemented and always be somewhat of a default.
someone said the signal to noise ratio is better on mastodon, I agree. so much candy posting in Bs - fun I guess but im still hungry. until they figure out how to scale up its kinda an echo chamber in there
Yeah, they definitely need to onboard some more folks because the sPosting is getting kinda repetitive. It needs more people from different realms to broaden the scope a bit.
They keep saying they care more about launching federation than scaling the og server. But they need do both.
@ry I love the post-Elon mastodon folks (of which I am) drawing narratives that AP/Mastodon wasn’t vibing literal years before we got here and is therefore in “danger” of becoming an “also ran” in the race to replace the bird.
Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.
Here’s why. The dev of metatext has ceased operations on the app due to health complications so the app hasn’t been updated in a while and is starting to break:
Won't link it because of their paywall, but the Washington Post has a story today about #BlockTheBlue over on Twitter:
"Frustrated users on Twitter are taking up arms against accounts with blue check marks and blocking them en masse in an effort they’re calling #BlockTheBlue."
"Shortly after the #BlockTheBlue hashtag took off, Twitter on Friday suspended the @Blocktheblue account."
