I’ve had some people call me judgemental because I’m seeing them do something wrong/failing at something and I’m trying to show them how to do it right. A lot of people get very defensive about being taught how to do something.
Lemmy, I have completed tens of modules across several different universities. I have been course-hopping for long enough that I’d have a bachelors degree by now had I found and stayed on a course that suited me. I can’t be asked to commit to one and study it for yet another 3 years before I get a degree*. Yet I feel like...
Get an internship or something so that you have an end goal in mind for your degree. Taking a collection of random classes isn’t what gets you a degree and it seems like you don’t have a goal other than getting a degree.
It is traditional for democracies to call the winners to congratulate them unless the country believes the election was not valid. I would expect Biden to call Modi just like he would call Sheinbaum, Mexico’s President-elect.
States dinners are less about the Head of Government/State and more about deepening ties between countries. I would expect a state dinner whether or not Modi was Prime Minister because of how important India has become in world politics.

A lot of people who use that term to describe other tankies seem to be using it the correct way while people who are tankies seem to want to change it to something else because of the implications of that definition.
To anyone on .world, which is obnoxiously in line with the United States status quo, I am a ‘tankie’ because I do not believe that China is evil, that Russians are ‘orcs’, that the Cuban people deserve to be starved by our sanctions, that Joe Biden has to support Palestinian genocide and continue Trump’s border policy because ‘its complicated’, and anything else that is critical of my own country and its actions that continue to harm people not as fortunate to be born in my same geographical location.
I wouldn’t call you a tankie for that. The closest thing may be the Russian orc thing, but that is more a statement that Russians are still human while fighting an immoral war.
That the Cuban sanctions are still going on are stupid and support for Palestine is consistent with general leftist theory regarding freedom.
I’m moreso curious if laptop functions have been offloaded to phones. If you have a full gaming desktop, do you see the use case for an additional laptop? or if most people here don’t see the need for the increased processing power of a desktop, do you just use your laptop and a phone?...
I used UberEats except for when I got a gift card for DoorDash. I’ve seen some restaurants stop using UberEats while they still use DoorDash. There really isn’t difference in terms of delivery service quality.
I don’t think diamonds have ever been an investment?
Maybe not a ring, but loose gem stones definitely were an investment due to their rarity.
Diamonds and other gem stones are going the way of aluminum. Aluminum used to be a rare metal until industrial smelting techniques were developed in the 19th century.
What are you insecure about?
I have imposter syndrome, both at work and in my relationship.
