Ok, I need some advice.
My daughter won't allow pictures to be taken of her - and this is her right.

However, it turns out that while it IS a privacy issue for her, it isn't about the pictures per se, it's that she doesn't want pictures taken with a phone. Good old normal non-networked digital cameras would be fine, she just doesn't want Google or Apple consuming her likeness.

Any recommendations for affordable decent digital cameras? I haven't owned one in almost a decade...

@grrrr_shark Sony rx-100 are good, any version. The III is the best used imo, the original is still very good.
Panasonic LX-5 is a good option too.
I've bought similar cameras off ebay with very good luck. You can also try KEH or Adorama for used cameras.
Prices should drop after the holidays.

I've been on Tumblr for a little over 10 years. (Yikes.) I kept my photo account going (barely) because it was the most seen/used. Recently, when the bird site imploded, I started a side account so I could follow more fandom things there and random stuff that I have a hard time finding here

It's such a weird void-like place. I only have one follower on the side account. My photos are still what get all the attention, but nothing like 10 years ago

Isn't it exciting knowing that Season 3 of Good Omens is being written now?

They could still say no after it's finished (crossing fingers & toes it is greenlit), but I'm very happy that writers get to write again and get paid to do so

So, when I was at Mt St Helens this past week with my family, we thought we saw a Peregrine falcon (along with spooking a few Ptarmigan.) The problem is, it doesn't seem like Peregrine would be up there on the edge of the mountain at around 4,500ft. We were near lakes, but a few miles away from any one in particular.

Any ideas on hawks that look similar in that area? Just curious.

Why did nobody tell me I could watch actual Shakespeare plays that have been performed on stage at different renowned theaters and were recorded for this very purpose. I thought we had to buy tickets and go to the actual place or miss out

I think my favorite is one that has the feel of the beginning of the Sandman comics.

Saw a yellow lab on an incredible journey of its own while I was on a hike at Lewisburg Saddle today.

Hoping it got back to its owners safely.

To spare you all a picture of a white chalky mess, what I did is use an absorbent watercolor paper, plop some white gesso down, spread it around and press things into it like craft moss, a feather, the edge of a card, a putty knife, and a pallet knife.

Two things I learned so far:
Wait for it to dry a little first
Have a more cohesive design

I haven't had a cat since my older cat passed back in 2021. Now I seem to make friends with all of the neighborhood cats on my walks. One in particular, waits for us each day. He caught us petting another cat and now there is drama. 😅

I am generally liking this new season. But, this episode was weirdly good. The Twilight tie-ins were a bit camp, the celebrity news and paparazzi getting out of hand was a good story, and I enjoyed seeing the old dslr camera gear.

Just finished on Apple Plus. I really like a good food manga and this live action adaptation did not disappoint. I haven't bought any new manga in a while but this series seems fun and interesting.
