@Tijn I guess my issue with this is that he didn’t seem to talk to any game developers or games preservation people to see what would be practical or actually helpful before making a whole site about it. The site makes it sound like having an offline version is as simple as flicking a switch and doesn’t account for cases like the game ending because the developer went under, which is often the case
Watched The Residents documentary The Theory of Obscuritory and it's a perfectly fine and straightforward talking head music documentary, but it did have an interview with the founder of inScape, which was a nice surprise for a multimedia cd-rom sicko like me
Man, I need to find the people making adventure games that didn’t grow up playing them in the 80s/90s. I need to see what new ideas people are bringing to the genre
Sam & Max Freelance Police (the long-awaited sequel to Sam & Max Hit the Road) was canceled 20 years ago today. Its cancelation was the true death of the adventure game at #LucasArts, but was also the birth of Telltale Games. @mixnmojo has a comprehensive, monolithic tome of an article chronicling Freelance Police’s birth, death, and the flowers that grew on its grave: https://mixnmojo.com/tomes/sam-and-max-2-fifteen-years-in-the-grave/
@ja2ke@mixnmojo man, I remember being so invested in the petition going around on adventure game forums at the time for Lucasarts to un-cancel the game.
Well I need to style it and stuff but I think I've successfully moved the site to a new host and will be able to do more now and it's more of a "real site" and not just a thing on Wordpress.com
Huh, I didn't know Tony Tough 1 and 2 were available for free on the developers site. The 2nd game will require some tinkering since it's an early 00s 3D game but the first game runs in ScummVM
Now that some other of my music projects have been wrapped up for the moment, I'm back to composing general MIDI files for Princess Fighter, the upcoming JRPG for MS-DOS by @mickey96
I've made over 50 tracks for this game already. Here's the latest one I made, which is for a desert world.
