White House spokesman Andrew Bates responds to the Republican Speaker:

"We absolutely reject the offensive accusation that gun crime is uniquely high in the United States because of Americans' 'hearts.' Gun crime is uniquely high in the United States because congressional Republicans have spent decades choosing the gun industry's lobbyists over the lives of innocent Americans."

Maga mike is right, but not the way he thinks. If the hearts of the gop weren't so dedicated to power at any cost, they would not have made gun proliferation central to their identity.

"centrist"

The press can not help themselves. The man voted (along with every single R in the house) to keep nazis in the military. He sponsored a national abortion ban and he voted against the CHIPs act.

There are no centrist Rs, no moderate Rs, just different factions of extremists with minor policy differences. They are not fighting over policy, they are fighting over which faction should have power. Its like isis vs al-qaeda vs the taliban.

Which do you think is the most inclusive address term for a group?

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said Wednesday that former President Trump is afraid of being poisoned.

“He does have a very potent fear of being poisoned,” Hutchinson told comedian Jimmy Kimmel
“So he uses and prefers the small Heinz glass ketchup bottles, because he likes to hear his valet or whoever’s serving him his meal, he likes to hear the ‘pop.’”

"If you hear the 'pop' it means the poisoned ketchup wasn't for you..."

That is similar to why he loves mcdonalds. He's said that fast food is "healthy" and "clean." A while back another aide explained that he's worried someone will spit in his food or worse, but if its fastfood the kitchen staff won't know the food is for him and will be less likely to adulterate it.

Yes, they all have their roles to play.

The thing I look for, and almost never find in any of these pieces, is a sense of contrition. It seems that practically no conservative elite has any interest in examining their own part in ushering their party down the path to open fascism. As if they are paragons of virtue, mere passengers on a ship of craven fools; when the reality is there are no passengers, each of them has tended to their duties, keeping the ship running at full speed.

Josh Marshall ( @joshtpm) declares the antiabortion movement dead.

“Movements that can’t make positive arguments for their favored positions, even to friendly audiences, cease to be political movements properly understood and become something more like rearguard actions. They seek to use inertia, incumbency and stratagems to hold on to gains and do their best to avoid fights on the open ground of public opinion.”

Maybe politically, but overturning Roe was the result of decades of violent terrorism. They terrorized 100s of thousands; murdered dozens of people, including a doctor in church; firebombed 100s of building; they even bombed the MFing Olympics. Its the most successful terrorist campaign since the KKK canceled Reconstruction.

People like that don't give up overnight, they will ratchet up the violence if they think their victory is being snatched away from them.

Note the rhetorical trick that the so-called 'liberal media' is happy to uncritically amplify: "biden FAMILY."

Maga literally admits they have nothing on the president, so they have adopted the strategy of smearing him by proxy.

The real story is that they are all in on impeachment him despite admitting they have no evidence. But if the press reported that truth, maga would get mad at them, so instead y'all are just stenographers of their lies.
