I guess it’s been 20 years since that Ethernet cable was left dangling from the broadband router. It’s now sort of neatly pinned around door frames and skirting, and no longer a trip hazard.*

(* It was in an area of little traffic, but still.)

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@snaptophobic one of the first things I did when moving in was to remove meters of old cabling that wasn't connected. Still have two satellite dishes to remove though.

Workshopshed,

@gadgetoid perhaps you could lure someone to the gate and assume their identity. From watching films, the trick is to remember not to pick really tall or short people

Workshopshed,

@rasterweb been chatting about alternative cuckoo clocks and crazy golf

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@rasterweb mini golf usually is just small green courses with slopes, bunkers and curves. Crazy golf has things like ramps, clowns and windmills

Due to brexit related supply issues and heavy budget cuts, funding for the royal portrait can only supply the artist with a single colour.

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@dgar yes, artisan charcoal from the timbers of an East India co slave ship, soaked in a Louis XIII cognac and made by crofters in a traditional peat clamp on the Isle of Eriskay and aged for 75 years in oak barrels in the basement of the Tower of London.

I quite like this kind of credit card statement.

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@snaptophobic they don't pay interest any more on credit balances. Not like the old days

Is that what I think it is?

rasterweb, to random
@rasterweb@mastodon.social avatar

I had two assumptions in the past.

  1. People who drive for Uber do it because they need extra cash.

  2. People who buy a Tesla have too much cash.

But while in California last week a good number of Uber cars were Teslas.

Can someone make it make sense for me?

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@rasterweb the drivers rent the cars from a company hence make even less money than you think.

First go with buttonfix, using it for a heavy mirror. It went very smoothly although my tape measure wasn't playing nicely with the magnetic spirit level.

A mirror, on a wall, not falling down

I have just realised that the one benefit to the amount of disinformation, lies & LLM rubbish that swirls around the internet these days is that April Fool's 'pranks' don't make a dent. No requirement to be extra vigilant, because that level of attention is required every sodding day.

Workshopshed,
@Workshopshed@mastodon.scot avatar

@eclectech I wonder if we can utilise April Fools to pollute the AI algorithms? Make "special content" just for the robots...

I am told to call at 0800. I will be passed through the online system to make an appointment. I can’t make an appointment "in the future" any more.

What?!

What kind of Kafkaesque system is this? It’s insane! Primary care? Forget it.
