I need help, dear , fellow followers of , , , .
It's been some time since I was a teenager. Things have changed. I need a place for my kids in to hang out in a small town. I chose this place to be a mall. I haven't specified the country in which my story takes place for numerous reasons, but is this still something kids do these days? Or is it completely out of date?

Hi, dear #writingcommunity, I need help!
I'm currently translating a story set in 12th century. In the German version, I'm using the word "Herr" as address to higher-ups, when the right title is not used. This is done by people who are not well educated. "Herr" could be translated with "my lord" or "sir". I thought "my lord" was the better alternative, but I wonder - it feels weird e.g. for the bishop (Your Excellency). What do you think?

Mar 22 How does news get spread in your story?

For most parts, it's still plain old news on TV or Internet.

Special things like events in the world of the channelers, however, travel by rumor.

Release planned for Sunday!!

So, the family has voted. This is the favorite for the cover of #OdysseyToThePromisedLand

Any thoughts?

May 21. Do you format as you write or do that at the end?

The minute I know that something will be longer than just a scene, I do basic formatting. I'm writing in word, and it simply makes it easier to navigate the document if I've got headers, parts, and so on.
However, I do the final formatting for ebook, PB and HC only once I'm done. They differ too much, so it's 3 different docs in the end.

I final formatted yesterday!

Oct 30. Did the education system inspire you or put you off writing?

The German system did nothing to inspire me. We weren't taught creative writing, and we mostly read classics in school.

My year in the US was different. I was encouraged to write, praised, and taught basic skills. If this had been the case in my homeland, I might have gone for a different career path.

But who knows if I had been happier as a full-time writer?

I'm so crazy busy these days and unable to keep up with all my beloved hashtags - so please don't be mad if I post a day or two late (or not at all, but I guess that wouldn't be an issue for anyone but me 😅).

Oct 19 two truths and one lie about

  1. Dinosaurs make an appearance in this story.

  2. The nameless MC befriends Helen of Troy.

  3. It is impossible for the time travelers to change anything that's in the past of the nameless MC, i.e. that has already happened in her personal timeline.

Dec 22 Whatever

Don't know what's wrong, but I suddenly feel so disconnected from my WIP. Like it is no fun anymore. I'm 25k in, and this is usually the place I start to feel truly connected to my MCs. But today? All seems bleak.

Feb 15. What's your field of expertise? What are you most skilled at?

I have an MD and a specialization in Ob/Gyn. That does come in handy when writing.

I offer free advice for birth scenes, too. I've read way too many dramatic (unrealistic) birth scenes not to do so.

17.5.

Lucie liebt diesen Duft: "Verflixt. Er riecht auch noch gut. Irgendwie nach Sonne, Moos und Kräutern."
(ja, so riecht Noel).

Oct 20. If you read over a quarter of a book and decide you don't like it, do you bail or complete it?

I used to skip through it till the end, but I don't bother anymore. The Buddenbrooks taught me I don't have to read everything.

I read for enjoyment or research, not because I have to.

Teile einen kleinen Abschnitt aus deinem Werk, der in die Kategorie "Slice of Life” passt. (catch-up)

Apr 5 SC POV: Who is your favorite person to be around?

Gunild: I like to be around Katja. She reminds me of my youngest daughter, with that beautiful auburn hair. And she's still so much a child, her head between the stars most of the time.
She doesn't see what I see, how the men look at her - she is simply blind in that regard.
I need to protect her. That ghastly old husband of hers is no real protection.
(But don't tell her I said that!)

So, yesterday was one of these rare days when I sat down to write at 8 in the morning and stopped at 21:30 in the evening, with only a few breaks in between.
As a result, I managed to FINISH my first draft of this morning!
OMG!
I wanted to stay below 120k and came out at 119.4! It's done! A story that's been with me since I was a teen is told at last!

Excuse while I do a happy dance and eat some chocolate now.

May 17. Other than writing, what's your go-to creative outlet?

Music, esp. singing and dancing, and drawing.

I'm not good at any of these, but I love all of them, and they relax me.

Feb 23: Do you format your own work, or hire someone?

I do. But I'm kind of a computer nerd and do most of these things myself.

Actually, I start the formatting once I'm sure it's going to be more than just a snippet because it helps me navigate my MS.

As March is drawing to a close (and I'm off too Paris to celebrate an 18th birthday - not mine 🤣), I wonder which WIP to choose for upcoming prompts of

is published and done.

I still got the WIP that needs to be edited.
I also have a translation of a historical story in need of edits.
And I have this historical idea I started last year and pushed back because of coding school.

What shall I do? Help?
