I said that and someone responded "Congratulations to John McCain on her transition" and I replied:

What started as a joke about an apartment complex called "Enby Park" that I always chuckle at while driving by turned into me and my Enby pals setting up a base at Enby Park, getting our hands on a Sherman tank in a nearby town square and establishing the Massachusetts 1st Battalion Non-binary Tank Corps.

Yesterday seemed to be "things to piss off Rosemary" day. I can honestly see why they were eager to get a patient out of the ER because she turned out to be a 15 year old girl who has been viciously bullied. And it only got worse.

But after I got that out of my system I realized I was probably the best person to take this call and I slipped into conversation with her that I had an ex-girlfriend and referred to a friend who goes by they/them just as a signal that, if she wanted to, I was a safe adult to talk to about this stuff.

She decided not to and took a nap for most of the ride and that was fine too.

Oh shit I just realized something.

Ireena is now using the weapons that Qadira used to use. A sword and shield.

Guess who's getting added to Ireena's Spirit Guardians.

Which now makes me want to write a hilarious sequel to the antics of her existing Spirit Guardians, who are her father and brothers, as a strange elf woman suddenly shows up.

The players will also run into this first hand when Vega the not-paladin throws the accusation in Osgul's face. It'll be up to the players if it turns into an all-out brawl or if they can resolve it.

I decided to put together a timeline to try to keep things at least somewhat consistent in my game.

In the official materials they actually use BC for Barovian Calendar, but I decided that's might be a little confusing for players since we use that in real life so I changed it to BA.

And yes The Fellowship of the Raven is the adventuring party that my Ireena originates from.

I really hate it when I see memes of someone holding a box of puppies or kittens or whatever and they're like "Hey look my box of antidepressants arrived!"

Yeah that's nice but that attitude is what kept me unmedicated for the first 26 years of my life and it turns out I really needed actual medicine.

I feel like it's only a few steps from cute memes to "you don't need medication, just drink this homeopathic nonsense!"

I have to admit my surprise that this is so far the only story up on Archive of Our Own about these two considering how popular the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch is.

But a couple things might be at play here, one of which is that the Ravenloft fandom is comparably smaller.

It does not, however, escape my notice that Arthur Sedgewick is canonically a black man as of 5e. And I had enough experiences with SuperWhoLock during the Bad Old Days to make some assumptions.

Put up the second chapter now, which is probably the heaviest in terms of content.

To be honest I'm waiting for someone to "actually..." me about how CPR works. I took some artistic liberty here because it's D&D but it's largely accurate to how it's taught as of 2024.

And if I hope to convey anything with this chapter it's how much doing manual compressions fucking sucks, and the sad fact that most of the time it doesn't work.

While we're on the subject of things I'm side-eying in the Ravenloft section of Archive of Our Own, I'm disturbed by how many stories unronically depict the relationship between Ireena and Strahd as a straight romance.

Look, the intent of the site is to write what you want, but that's hard NOPE for me.
