Every now and again I get the idea of live streaming in my head and I do a little research on how I can set that up on my own domain and not use a major platform.
It always ends with me realizing that I just don’t have the flexibility and space for doing a regular live stream.
I have a goal to make videos of performances, but these will be recorded instead of live. This is something I can make the time for and make happen.
It doesn’t mean I won’t ever do live streaming, but it won’t be a regular thing for me. Maybe I can be a guest on someone else’s sometime when I have something to share.

I have started a list of topics and ideas for future blog posts. Now that I have done the first introduction post, what does everyone think of a behind the scenes look at how I made my Bonkwave track? Since the compilation just came out it seems appropriate. Thoughts?

I did a lot of writing today. It was definitely more than I’ve done outside of work in one day in a long time. I published the first post for my new blog and removed the placeholder post from when I installed Wordpress. I also sent out a message to my Bandcamp followers explaining the new blog and the new home for all of my music where they can download it for free. The Bandcamp message felt like the final step in my transition to this self-hosted world where all of my content can live in one place. The future of my creative work feels really exciting. Now I should get into making some new music to celebrate.

I want to take a moment and shout out @yoniden who has organized each Not What I Call Bonkwave release. I know it is a ton of work and they do it for the love of music and creating community.

It is always so cool to see someone who invests their energy like that and I am very appreciative of them.

I've seen some posts from folks asking about what Bonkwave is and how to figure it out compared to other musical genres.

In my opinion this isn't something to focus on or worry about. I don't think there is any gatekeeping going on or some kind of "you don't already know, so you aren't cool enough" thing happening.

Bonkwave is for everyone because it is really just about people coming together to have some creative fun and put something out into the world.

Okay, so I'm only three tracks in on Disc A and I can't count on one hand how many times I have done the face melted head bobbing thing when a track does something sick. Great work everyone!

The Bonkwave is upon us! I am super stoked and honored to have a track on this compilation. It was a lot of fun to make the song. Here is my track, but sure to listen to the whole thing and let the Bonkwave goodness wash over you.

Last night I set up a blog specific page on my new Wordpress site to link to all posts and now I feel like things are set up enough that I can start writing posts. hooray!

I started to look at plugins for allowing people to subscribe to my blog via email and social media. I found out that the ActivityPub plugin not only makes my blog available on the Fediverse, but also gives me a great follow button to put on the page to follow the blog via however someone connects to the Fediverse and that is where I am going to leave it, I think.

I want to invest more in the Fediverse and lean into it more. I have had a great experience finding community here that I want to focus my energy into building that more.

Letting people subscribe via email would be great, but I don't want to have to use something like Mailchimp or another service. I will look into that another time, but for now I am pretty happy with the state of things on my site.

I wasn’t super active here yesterday for Bandcamp Friday with work and life being busy. But, I was so glad to see lots of people supporting each other in the same way as previous Bandcamp Fridays.
I know the future of Bandcamp feels murky to many and people are finding other ways to share their music.
It’s great to still see people connecting and sharing around the music we are all making since that is what really matters. It’s super inspiring.

Just remembered how fun it was to make my Bonkwave track and got really excited for Volume 2 from Bonk Knob Records.
I’m so pumped to be a part of it and to hear everyone’s tracks.

Yes! :success:

My little 2 minute track using @etherdiver badass 1 minute song will be the first time that something I made will be next to other artist's on something more official than a soundcloud playlist.

A sneak peak would be listening to the original track that I converted to a

I don't know what I'm doing, but it's something, lol.

The track was then the inspiration for this longer one using the first song on the same @etherdiver album.

It's official, my Faircamp site is live! Huzzah!
This is super exciting to have a single place for all of my music to live for folks to listen and download. All of my works are available for free download in a variety of formats.
So, please check it out if you are interested in improvised, experimental, electronic sounds. Any boosts are greatly appreciated. 😀

attksthdrknss,

A big thanks to @freebliss for creating Faircamp as an awesome tool to use to create sites like this.

Thank you to @meljoann for the great tutorial on how to get Faircamp up running locally.

And thanks to @keefmarshall for setting up their Faircamp Webring that I could join to help folks discover my tunes.

I made my Bonkwave track tonight using similar methods as I did on my last release. I tried things out and as it sounded good I moved on to the next bit. I didn’t stop to get caught up in the details. This let me create several parts that I could move between. Once I had an idea of something I liked for the intro I was ready to perform it and record. The result is one take of a stream of consciousness of sorts.

I just submitted my track for consideration to the next compilation. I don't normally like to leave things to the last minute, but with a sick kiddo at home it takes some creativity to make the time for working on creative projects.
In some ways it made the track what it is since I didn't have a ton of time to work on it and had to wait until later in the evening.
But, I did stick with the approach I was talking about before and opened an empty project on my SP404 mk2 and only used samples that were on the SD card.
Overall, it was fun and I think it is in a style that I would like to try out again. I should keep the project for sure.
