I'm doing another one of my little surveys, this time to see which parts of using #Linux on the desktop are the most problematic, and the various issues people are having.

So it's finally happened. I'm tired of ☠️-ing Adobe software. With its shift to AI and other dubious practices I'm finally switching to #FOSS alternatives.
For photoshop I'm using #Krita; Illustrator, #Inkscape, tho now I'm looking for an indesign alternative. So far #Scribus seems the most popular. And I might have to get a free trial of indesign to export my existing books into XML format 🙃
Anyone know any other alternatives?

Saw on github that there are a kit if repository called "dotfile"... What i understand, reading online, is that you upload your dotfiles so, for some reason you distro hop or have a new pc, you can download those files and you have the previous configuration of the system... right?

Is there a way to automate all this process?

My dad managed to find a PC for me... It's a Dell PowerEdge T20 with a Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 @3.20 with 8 Gib of Ram...

When i saw the CPU, a couple of question came out of my mind and out of my mouth too...

Me: "Dad, by any chance, did you steal this PC? This PC has a CPU that is used, usually, in small/medium companies"
Dad: "No, i didn't steal it. Those PCs are being replaced at work and they wanted to trow them away, so i got 2 bird with 1 stone and brought it home!"

Today in Italy started a test for the national alert system, where at 12:00 we should receive those alerts and answer a survey... My aunt, at the time, was playing with crossword on her phone... When she received the alert, her first response was "WTF is this? Why did it appear out of nowhere? Just let me play my crosswords, get out of here"... She leaves me without words...and then I laughed so hard that I felt light-headed 🤣 thank God it was only a test!

I'm seeing that the MAJOR social platforms (Twitter and Reddit) are making some poor life decision... I'm sure that there are people that will stay there, but i'd suggest to move to other platforms ASAP... it's doesn't have to be mastodon, obviously, but better than those money grub scum for sure!

8 months ago i decide to change os on my pc, 'cause privacy concern and for a fresh start...oh boy i made a good decision! I'm happy to use my pc and not having continuous headache caused by Windows! For everyone who are not happy with Windows, try Linux, any distribution!!! Start with Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian or Manjaro (but i suggest to not stick with it since they always fuck up with something), breath some new fresh air!! And btw, i was the one who didn't care about the look..and look at this!

@benjaminhollon since you use NixOS, i wanted to ask you this... if you give me, for example, you configuration file of nixos and i build it on my pc, i essentially have a nixos distro tailored for you, right? I can share freely my configuration file, but not the hardware-configuration (in case of different hardware), right?
