The Helldivers 2 furore is bonkers. If you missed it, Sony, seemingly against wishes of the dev studio, pushed to add a mandatory PSN Network sign-in months after launch on one of their biggest, most popular games on PC, and not only did the community revolt (dropping review score into the teens), but the game is now pulled from 177 storefronts and Steam are issuing refunds (as PSN only works in certain countries). The studio has told players to make their voices heard
It was always a requirement, it was listed on the store page since release. You did have to scroll down a bit to see it in the Steam sidebar though.
The issue sucks for sure, but this is not something being pushed for suddenly months later, it was paused initially due to the overwhelming demand at release.
Sony messed up though big time, by letting people buy it in regions not supported.
Look, if you're using cheapo digital ocean vps and a single article takes 11mb to load without a browser cache...maybe the problem is your server not the mastodon embed.
