Wczoraj odkryłem ciekawy program, którego szukałem od lat :). Mowa o programie . Z wyglądu i funkcjonalności przypomina program na desktopa o nazwie .

Ja mam odhaczone wszystkie 3 punkty z ich listy, czemu warto używać tego programu :)

  • You're debugging on a remote machine and need to study a pcap.
  • You don't want to copy it back to your desktop.
  • You're familiar with Wireshark. 😃

It's insane thinking about how has nailed touch scrolling right out of the bat from the first phone, and phones still have not figured out how to do it right. Not just on touchscreens but on trackpads too, only has managed making something as "simple" as touch scrolling as intuitive, magical, and true to life (instant response, the exact amount of weight and inertia as you'd expect from what you just did with your finger) SYSTEM WIDE (and not app-dependent) while laptops still makes you feel like you're better off with a mouse. I use an Apple Magic Trackpad on my PC and it feels great and was one of the best investments I've made, but it will never be as good as it'd be on and that feels like a crime. Since no one has figured it out, I unjokingly wish the EU or CCP make it compulsory for Apple to teach everyone else in the industry how to implement this seemingly simple thing, so right.

Spent the day installing to an old Acer of my sister in law's brother (I've converted everyone to in the family). Acer's firmware was very buggy, so it took tricks to load grub.

Installed them a few apps, and they will be super happy with their new (old) laptop. Previously, 10 was dying on that laptop, it was that slow, as it was swapping furiously! Mint loaded in about 1 minute, which is good (considering the very slow hdd).

Microsoft is how large a company with how much money? Yet downloads of the Microsoft store come down at 56k speeds.

This final school term that requires I use Windows can't be over soon enough.

I truly loathe windows at this point.

Is there a alternative? I seem to recall someone mentioning one to me like it was a less expensive no-brainer because it would also run some Windows software.

jay,
@jay@toot.zerojay.com avatar

@punkscience_ns The main Steam Deck alternative out there is the ROG Ally. You can find used ones out there for pretty cheap right now, especially since they just announced a successor a few days ago, but generally speaking, not cheaper than a Steam Deck. It's essentially a Windows laptop in a different form factor. ASUS has its flaws (as does the Ally itself) but it's put a lot of support into the Ally, far better than the other competitors out there so far.

There's also the Lenovo Legion Go, the MSI Claw and a few other Chinese Windows machines, but all are either nowhere near as supported, nowhere near as cheap or just plain hard to get without signing up for an Indiegogo and waiting months.

As far as running some Windows software is concerned, most of these Windows based machines can be used as a full on desktop replacement when docked with keyboard and mouse if you wanted to do that (and I have done so for 6 months or so).

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

#Microsoft has opened access for Russian users to updates for #Windows and #Office, the #Russoft association told Izvestia. For example, Windows 11 23H2 is downloaded again on computers without a VPN, the situation is similar with Office. Previously, such updates could not be installed on computers from Russian IP.

In addition, Microsoft did not block Russian IT companies from accessing the software, although it promised to do so after March 20.

I have had a new laptop for a day, and it's shit-hot!

Clearly aimed at gamers but the best spec I could find for development.

I went #Lenovo #Legion9 (max), rather than #Dell for the first time because the spec, and the fact my last Dell is faulty after 6 years (whereas my previous 15yr Dell is still perfect).

Lenovo support is poor, outsourced, unhelpful and knows less than I do.

Windows 11 was the only option, so no Ubuntu drivers. But ok, except the trackpad so far, USB devices on order.

Yes, refurbs can be excellent value if they meet your needs/wants.

I still have an working ThinkPad T41 refurb that I put Bodhi Linux on.

The setup yesterday shows me everything I've heard and abhorred about lately. Even after configuring for was sending all my clicks home and making this shit-hot laptop sluggish!

Pretty shocking actually. Enter Firefox and Brave [phew].

I'm so thankful for .

IT'S DOOONE! :blobcatred:

Used my red yarn to make this blobcat prototype before trying with my yellow, I'm really new to crochet this is only my second finished project and first time using a flat circle which came out really nice.

This is basically a flat circle with walls which I just sort of randomly reduced the stitching when it felt right. I mostly guessed with the ears by following a guide for making and attaching doll arms, then doing thar way shorter and putting it on the head.

The mouth was really hard, I didn't realise for Surface Crochet you need access to the underside and I'd already sealed the top and didn't want to re-open it so I sowed some thread in a general shape it came out OK.
I also didn't put enough stuffing inside so it doesn't feel as good to squish as it could, I'll add way more next time.

Overall, very enjoyable took me about a week to learn how to do the circle and then three to four days of intense crocheting once I got the hang of that.

I'd recommend crochet over permissions or Defender any day.
