Just a quick nod to the person (you know who you are) that blessed me with no less than seven direct messages last night, explaining to me in great detail that none of the cassette decks I've repaired are as good as the £3,000+ deck, widely regarded as the pinnacle of cassette deck design, and that I'm wasting my time with anything less then a Nakamichi Dragon.

For a minute I thought I'd quantum leaped back to Twitter in 2019.

💡 Bandbreite ist die maximale Geschwindigkeit unserer Internet-Datenleitung & bestimmt, wie schnell wir Daten hoch- & runterladen können. Die richtige hängt von den Nutzungsgewohnheiten & der Haushaltsgröße ab! Für einige reichen 100 MBit/s im Download, Familien benötigen eher 100 bis 400 MBit/s. Unternehmen interessieren sich z. B. für 500 Mbit/s bis 1 GBit/s.

Die Grafik zeigt den durchschnittlichen Bedarf an Bandbreiten. Auf der Grafik steht der Text: "Diese Bandbreiten benötigen wir im Schnitt:" Darunter sieht man als Beispiel für geringe Nutzung ein Handy und einen Laptop, daneben steht 10 MBit/s im Upload, 100 MBit/s im Download. Für mittlere Nutzung ist ein Laptop abgebildet, auf dem in HD gestreamt wird, daneben steht: 20 MBit/s im Upload, 200 MBit/s im Download. Für hohe Nutzung sieht man ein Einfamilienhaus, daneben steht 30 MBit/s im Upload, 300 MBit/s im Download.

Got an Abus Granit Extreme 2500 U-lock today. Can confirm the mechanism quality is outstanding. This is a new generation of u-lock that is reinforced against battery-fed grinder attacks. They still can be defeated, but the time to cut is extended to multiple cuts over minutes instead of seconds.

Another vintage #cassette deck rescued from oblivion. This time it's the absolutely rock solid top of the range NAD 6155 from the late #80s. This was the one I wanted when I was 17, but I had to settle for the lowly 6220. I loved that thing ❤️

This is an order of magnitude better. Massive flywheel, huge dynamic range and the uncluttered industrial design that is one of the reasons I love NAD gear. First appearance of Play Trim that improves playback of pre-recorded cassettes.

She's a keeper.

I have a question for those into modern #gaming:

If I wanted to explore an open world without shooting anyone, fighting anyone, or being tasked to collect stuff, what title(s) should I be looking at?

I like to drive, fly or even just wander around on foot.

PC or Mac, console if necessary, but not handheld.

Any suggestions gratefully received :-)

@woodpunk my favourite would be Red Dead Redemption 2.
For the main story, you can't get around some shooting, but you can ignore that and mostly just wander around in the beautiful landscape.
You might want to do some fishing or hunting to make money if you like.

Flight Simulator might be another option?

My worry is that this leads to "let's just ship container images", which will make things worse in my view.
Or we just lose support for a lot of operating systems and architectures.
Autotools is awful, but they do solve a problem.

Ich überlege, den Bildschirm mit einem VESA-Mount am Schreibtisch zu befestigen, damit das alles nicht mehr so liederlich aussieht.

Ich möchte aber keinen Quatsch kaufen, der nur wackelt und quietscht. Welche Marke bietet ordentliche Qualität und ist trotzdem bezahlbar? Echte eigene Erfahrungen wären natürlich gold.

The only mistake I made was choosing a model that was a bit bigger than I expected 😄
