Es ist mir immer unsagbar peinlich, wenn internationale Gäste auf die Deutsche treffen. Danke

@jonah Same here, must be the reason why you can‘t read this post :-)

I'm once again reminding everyone of my proposal to take away every single carpark at Auckland Transport and make it a job requirement, at least for the CEO and board members, to ditch their cars and move around the city using public transport and active modes exclusively.

Oh, you can't get to work on time? It's difficult to pick up the kids and get to your meetings? Services are late or cancelled?

Perhaps someone's job is to fix that, huh?

I will steal this forever.

    @Cloudguy Engineers may think that the foundation of society and culture is built of STEM exclusively but that‘s … wrong.

    Where can I get free 3D Models for iOS AR Development? I think I want to use them as SCNode to place them in a real world context, feel free to advise me of better ways

    chris,
    @chris@strafpla.net avatar

    @below As someone tinkering with 3D-Printing I would consider downloading interesting models from sites like https://www.printables.com/search/all?q=vase and convert STL to Scenekit. Or did I completely miss your point?

    chris,
    @chris@strafpla.net avatar

    @below Unfortunately I can‘t help here - I only tinkered with STL conversion using some code I found on github a very very long while ago and had no specific use case.

    Hm, I used @Cloudguy as a reason to thoroughly clean up everything related to and to migrate some things to just to find that password changes in iCloud-Keychain sometimes do not seem to stay but are overwritten (synced?) with the old password.
    Even if I delete a specific account/password it just comes back after a while!

    It seems I’ll stick to for another few years, at least for the non- set of logins.

    chris,
    @chris@strafpla.net avatar

    @Cloudguy This is only a coincidental annoyance with Apple’s iCloud password sync (and maybe my large number of credentials) and it has nothing to do with Amazon specifically.

    I’m looking forward to learning more on your findings in the next days, in particular if the attack scenarios touch the security of AWS in any way.

    I don't think people are realising the danger the Fediverse is in.

    The only thing stopping corporations and VCs taking over this place is that the Fediverse is spread out on many different servers, which makes it very difficult to purchase.

    If most of the Fediverse ends up on mastodon.social, which is now a strong possibility, there will be nothing to stop most of it being sold to Musk or Zuckerberg or whoever.

    The bigger mastodon.social becomes, the more likely a buyout is to happen.

    Some of the alternatives are even Mastodon forks! <gasp/>

    The “Eugen is evil” trope is beyond boring nowadays, annoyingly repetitive and sloppy research on what he (+team/users) built.

    I disagree with the growth of mega instances because they are “too big to block” but I can just say my arguments and then see whether it becomes something to act on.
    Why is this so difficult for some, why does there have to be drama and character assassination?

    There are some disagreements about some details of AP on the fediverse. This always is the case with (open) protocols(http,smtp,html,rss/atom), this is normal, nothing is static.

    If you see more in this you could write down your criticism en detail technically or point to a source that does it in a way you agree on.

    I have only tinkered with the protocol for a while because I have an idea for static blogs (project n+1) but I may miss sth.

    Why do I a massive number of people on ? Because my is fairly !
    I am trying to not only catch people I personally find interesting but to curate interesting people (and their topics) for the small number of friends sharing this instance.
    It feels a little like having a small venue and I am trying to book interesting bands.
    Mastodon has a fascinating dynamic!
