19 years ago today Stephen Whittle and I had a day out at Buckingham Palace having medals pinned on us by the now-King for services to trans people. Afterwards my daughter and I had afternoon tea with my MP, Sir Gerald Kaufman in the Commons tea room. I’ve always thought Stephen really suits formal attire. Hard to reconcile the state’s performance of respect for trans people then with what the Tories have done in the last 6-7 years.
We’ll shortly discover whether the people of Islington are inherently Corbyn voters or Labour voters. If there are any significant numbers of the former the vote will be split.

This Friday, 24th May, will be the 17th anniversary of when I first set up a social media account. I wouldn’t venture onto Twitter till late 2008. In those days Facebook had a chronological timeline and asked me to complete the sentence ‘Christine is…’. And when I first joined 160 character Twitter, people took the piss and I really couldn’t say what the point of it was. We’ve certainly all been on a journey.

Abigail has is always entertaining and thought provoking but, as a public educator, I think she has surpassed herself on this occasion and come up with the most coherent explanation I’ve seen so far of the anti-gender movement, what powers it and (sadly) what makes it impervious to learning, reason and change.
I can’t believe it. I went to use the PatientAccess app and suddenly, without much explanation, it wants me to CHOOSE and set up an authenticator app — making the service even harder to log in to than it already was. The NHS and its surrogates are so obsessed with security (far more than banks) to the extent they’re making their useless app, with almost zero functionality, practically unusable. Suppose I was in a panic to book an appointment? This is a huge senseless barrier to usability.

The more Cass get interviewed, the more she reveals of herself. Ask any trans woman and we’ll tell you how a scary number of cisgender people harbour erotic fantasies about us. We are constantly sexualised. There’s a whole market in porn about trans women made by cis men for cis men’s consumption. Casting US as the porn junkies is just another example of cis projection.
Well, that’ll sort it eh? Darlings I knew tacitly about having an inside model at variance with the world’s expectations by the year before I started school. I didn’t have a word for it but that doesn’t stop being impelled. I discovered I wasn’t alone eight years later in the News of the World — not the best way. We all find a way to self knowledge.
