Opinion: No, Dr Cass, Porn Will Not Make You trans.

The more Cass get interviewed, the more she reveals of herself. Ask any trans woman and we’ll tell you how a scary number of cisgender people harbour erotic fantasies about us. We are constantly sexualised. There’s a whole market in porn about trans women made by cis men for cis men’s consumption. Casting US as the porn junkies is just another example of cis projection.

If I sound indignant it’s because I effing well am. I can only speak for myself but there really is no porn in this tired old woman’s life and there never has been because (and this will break many hearts) erotica just don’t float my boat, let alone propel it. I transitioned because I’m trans and womanhood fitted me like a glove. The sooner the creepy wing of cisgender humanity get help for whatever drives their projections, the better for the whole world’s sake. Give me strength!

Sunak uses the expression food security like it is something we have or can achieve

The United Kingdom last achieved that in the 19th Century

We either import food or we starve

Don't deceive the public. .

At $11,000 the BYD Seagull has the US motor industry and government in such a tizzy that they’ve slapped a 100% import tax on it. It’s like the arrival of the Japanese manufacturers fifty years ago but a far more refined product from a vertically integrated company with a gigantic home market that builds cars that people can afford rather than the ones western manufacturers decided they’d make.

J K Rowling calls trans soccer official a crossdressing straight man for no reason.

Look, even Elon Musk has advised her to get some other interests. It’s quite the journey she’s been on but she’s not alone and one day I’m sure psychiatrists will write books about this and other phenomena of our time.

If you were living through a societal collapse, remembering that such things play out over years until a sudden rush at the end, what would it look like day by day?

How does that differ from the world you’re experiencing?

God almighty! I do hate it when I accept a connection request on LinkedIn and 30 seconds later they’re messaging me with their bloody pitch. I realise LinkedIn isn’t designed for retired people but I go there everyday, look at people hustling like street beggars and come away immensely grateful to be out of the rat race.

Gemma Collins says doctors advised her to terminate her pregnancy because tests indicated it might be intersex.

If that’s the full background then that’s a horrible reason to terminate a foetus. The way this story frames it makes it a ‘poor me’ story about a minor ‘celeb’ but I’m thinking ‘poor child’

Just a tip: If NHS England succeeds in shutting down alternative routes for trans people to buy cross sex hormones that are legal to buy over the counter in other countries then they will have completed a proof of concept of the means to shut down unofficial ways of buying oral contraceptives and morning after pills. They’ve already tested how to shut down a crucial one of its kind clinic by painting it as scary…

christineburns,
@christineburns@mastodon.green avatar

…You may think a British government wouldn’t do that to things cisgender people have had for sixty years but the right’s politics have shifted so dramatically that the possibility is now there. As we’ve told folks many times, they practice first on the trans people in the belief that nobody cares enough about us to step in.

There’s something sick about threatening the desperate families of trans youngsters with a safeguarding referral when pulling the rug on their lifeline and gearing up to do actual harm with the full force of the state. At times like these, faced with officially mandated harmful practice, people need to get organising among themselves for self-protection from irreversible harm. Keep it simple. Keep it distributed. Don’t rely on one potential point of failure. Above all, look after each other.

christineburns,

@mloxton Oh definitely. And vote for what is capable of winning, not just to ‘send a message’ or make your principles feel better. Sending futile messages is a luxury nobody can afford right now. Be cynical as hell, determined to at least ensure the Tories and their ‘think tank’ buddies are nowhere near the levers of power. Do that even if it means voting for the party you also don’t like.

Advance warning. The Gender Recognition Bill was passed in an overwhelming majority on a free vote in Parliament on 25th May 2004. That means the twentieth anniversary will be two weeks today. If you wonder how we achieved that back then read Volume 2 of my insider history, ‘Pressing Matters’. It’s about teamwork and single mindedness — crucial skills that need to be reapplied today. You can read Volume 2 stand-alone if you prefer. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0753GPBLK

This is the site of the place in Islington where trans people used to meet, socialise and swap advice back in the 1970s, long before search engines and online pharmacies. There were groups like this around the country as described in my book Trans Britain. These were places you could rely on finding someone with the contacts to get you the hormones you wanted — at a price. is the manual for when the trans present gets tricky. Sad if we have to go back there.

After the Armistice of 1918, immediately it was safe to travel to Europe, the mother of the child who grew up to become Ewan Forbes-Semphill, took them to see the foremost experts on transgender people at the time and sourced the early form of drugs that would help avert the irreversible effects of female puberty and allow them to grow up a young man. Transgender hormone therapy is really that old

I foresee a lot of trans people taking a sudden interest in VPNs. It’s that or a return to the physical black market of the pre-Internet era. Trans people have always sourced the medications they need and the only thing officials will do by attempting to stifle access is push people underground. You’d think that free market libertarians like the Tories would understand that markets always respond to unmet needs.

There are various reports that some kind of parasitic worm got into antivax presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy’s brain, ate some of it and died there. The remains of the worm show up on brain scans.

The part that grabbed my attention is that the worm — evidently a species used to getting into bodies and living there — died from eating part of RFK’s brain. Has there ever been a more open and shut case of a toxic mind?
