Today, I discovered my LG washer and dryer have both become disconnected from my wifi network, and to tell you I have never experienced rage until I realized I was going to have to troubleshoot my washer and dryer's fucking wifi connections would be a horrifying understatement.

@astiga that's the ideal to me — even closer to where we were with mp3s and players years ago. Enabling artists to have closer relationships to fans is a far better goal than inserting middlemen that squeeze both sides of that relationship.

@ayo yeah, there's a lot about the music that's predatory and/or not beneficial to the artists. It really makes me appreciate the indies that had/have a spine like Dischord and SST (for all its faults). Streaming promised the potential to reach a wider audience but did nothing to help artists take advantage of or meaningfully benefit from that.

@ayo I think, given current circumstances, that's the healthiest approach — I'd love to see a more holistic alternative to Bandcamp that isn't subject to serial acquisitions. Even buying digital music is a challenge lately — a lot isn't on Bandcamp, some is on 7Digital and there's Amazon as an absolute last resort. It's frustrating as a fan and must be even more so as an artist.
