A financial planner I haven’t talked to in 20 years emailed to thank me for something I’d written on my blog which was super nice but they opened their email with “I just read your substack and it was wonderful” and now I’m a little mad to hear the nazi-loving email service is a generic phrase synonymous with “personal essays” in business people’s minds already.
Recommendations for good (and preferably cheapish) own-domain #email providers, anyone? As far as I know the consensus is still that running your own is prohibitively difficult for reputation reasons, but do correct me if I'm wrong.
I see some people are really disappointed about Debian packaging a stripped-down version of KeePassXC. But hey, I actually wish there was also a minimal @thunderbird package without integrations of IRC or Matrix etc, just with core email functionality.
I don't know if it's the same in other countries, but in Canada it's the law to have an ‘unsubscribe' link at the bottom of marketing emails. It sure makes it easier to get rid of the spam and to achieve #InboxZero!
Every once in a while I take a day to go through my inbox and click the unsubscribe button.

Ever since I quit Google I've stopped receiving junk emails, used to come about 10 a day and would end up in promotions folder, or updates, or socials, which google created. Now, I get nothing. Only newsletters, some of which are industry related so I don't mind them. #email#google#webdev
I'm looking for a privacy-focused #email provider with IMAP support. Preferably email-only provider (without calendar or cloud storage integration). No weird spam filtering system, zero-access encryption for data at rest, OpenPGP for encryption, 2FA, custom domain support, no personal info required for signup and accepts payment with cryptocurrency. Plus, it should perform well on the assessment at https://internet.nl/test-mail.
It was 69% complete, right below the threshold. Since then there has been no significant change. If you are a K-9 Mail user and a native Korean speaker, please consider helping out.
Five things to consider when making the transition to a new email address
Work and school emails are fine, but they might not last forever (and often neither does using an ISP e-mail address if you ever want to switch ISPs). You need something you can always come back to.
First, make sure your new email address is one ...continues
