@rooster I seem to recall that studies had shown people in the "overweight" bmi category can expect to live longer than those in the so-called normal or healthy category. 🤷‍♀️​

    Oh lord, apparently Hillary Cass has bought into the conspiracy theory that "sissy hypno porn is turning the kids trans!" It's absolutely infuriating and naked bigotry that anyone pretends she is a neutral, honest, or scientific researcher. I am going to bet within the year that she will blame either George Soros or Bill Gates for the transes, or come out as an anti-vaxxer.

    In the most glorious "fuck you" I have seen in a while, you know the book that Cumberland City Council banned because they're homophobic bigots - Holly Duhig's "A focus on Same Sex Parents"? Well, the publisher, BookLife Publishing, have made a PDF version of the book available for free.

    Sure be a shame if it was shared far and wide now, wouldn't it?

    @rooster I once designed my own computer as a hobby project in my first year at university. “So what?” you say. “People do that all the time now.” But this was my own design serial cpu and used a mercury delay line as memory. I gave up on the build. It was 1970 and would have cost me £100 I couldn’t afford.

    Would you be willing to let me share pictures of your transition timeline on my blog?

    There are so many of us that feel like it will be impossible to ever be ourselves. I want to show what social transition, HRT, and/or gender-affirming surgeries are capable of doing for us because I know that would have made a difference for me once upon a time.

    If you can reply or send me a direct message with your timeline or before/after images, and let me know whether you want your name/masto handle on it or if you would prefer to have no name/handle on it, I would really appreciate it! The piece in question will discuss a little bit of complicated history of the before/after transition images but then focus on the power of seeing how dynamic our bodies are and how much is possible through different kinds of transition. If you change your mind after sharing, I can always remove your images.

    @JoscelynTransient Early days of a work-in-progress! Both pics taken last year. The first is 4 months before starting HRT, age 70, and is complete with beard that I'd had since 1974! The second is on my way to the doctor for my first 4 months checkup last December, now age 71. Sorry for poor quality. Right now I'm coming up to 8 months, so I should really take some new ones with a better camera!

    TRANS FEM FRIENDS: What do you wish you could say to the person you were before transition who thought it was impossible to ever actually be a girl or be fem?

    I sometimes think back and find myself at a loss at what would have supported that girl best. She was so sad, hopeless, and often dissociated or in fight/flight/freeze/fawn over her distress with how she felt like she couldn't fit in the world. And like, I know "it gets better" or "it really is possible" wouldn't have gotten through.

    I talk to a lot of young trans folks who go through this still every day, and so would appreciate others thoughts on this!

Don’t feel guilty about people wanting to support you. Let them! Just come out to your family doctor, and you’ll be on HRT in less than two weeks.”
