In which I propose the "can you cry while using it?" test to assess whether or not real live humans were centered in the design of a given piece of technology: https://aaadaaam.com/notes/the-inhuman-computer/

Please, if you write documentation of any kind, forget you ever knew the words foo, bar or baz.

I should be writing the 46.alpha release announcement, but instead:

HERE I AM LOOKING AT THE SHADOWS OF THE WALLPAPER

OMG THIS IS GORGEOUS.

This marks my last week at Stray Bombay. If your company needs a communications specialist who has a variety of other skills, please give me a shout. HMU on Linkedin or email me at will@willsmith.ws.

I'm an ex-print and video journalist who has started my own company, hosted many successful podcasts, taken on a variety of roles at a game studio, and a whole lot more. This is the first time I've been available in my 20-year career, so don't miss your chance to hire me!

You need to have fun with ChatGPT sometimes. Using it has really helped bridge the gap in my engineering knowledge. I was able to write some decent watcher scripts for my linux system that silently sync files to GCP and @xata

By the end of the weekend I hope to have all 13 years of my screenshot library available on my site in a browsable timeline. New files will sync up immediately.

I also want to build some stats / charts from it using Xata's aggregation layer.

There are some really interesting effects you can generate if you use svgs as mask images instead of relying on their fill. It opens up the use of backdrop-filters which can allow you to use saturations, brightness and anything else you want. These first two icons are using mask-image, while the others are using traditional fills. You could also use clip-path and try animating as well. Browser support is flaky at best (Safari is good), but promising.
