To be fair he said he will turn people into dinosaurs, not himself.

Not sure what the surprise is. It is a device that needs you to sign into an account and have an internet connection. Ie it is just a dumb terminal. Kind of like how Alexa speakers are useless without an internet connection. All the processing is done on servers.

Even if it was not an android app, you probably could have made a clone of it since you are basically interacting with a web api.

In their defence the device has the advantage of giving you instant access to their ai through the touch of a button whilst on phones you would need to physically open the app as the “assistant” functionality is already reserved to Siri, Bixby, etc. EDIT: I wasn’t aware you can change assistants.

Personally I like the concept if the processing was done within the device, but considering you need monster machines to run llms I guess we are least decades away from that reality.

Ah wasn’t aware of the ability to change assistants. I stand corrected!

The fact they chose india is probably for the low wages. So I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Given the state of the world, those volcanoes are probably already owned by foreign investors to use as land banks.

Speaking metaphorically they basically have to create “doors” for the hundreds of “walls” they made to originally prevent this.

I say “doors” since they will probably make them oddly shaped and hard to access to still make it difficult to allow you in.

Well it has to do with culture/educational systems.

For example in Japan they still teach the abacus(soroban) as they see it helps visualise calculations which makes mental mathematics easier.

On the flip side Japan barely teaches spoken english and focuses mostly on written tests. So the typical japanese person can read/write english but can barely form an english sentence when speaking.

The Terminator in the first movie used a phone book to hunt down and kill all the Sarah Connors it could find

I am guessing noone is suing discord for hosting these groups were Nintendo might be threatening a lawsuit for hosting these devs.

So not a matter of morals but self-preservation.

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. (lemmy.world)

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...

If you are talking about the late 90’s and early 2000’s there was plently of multiplayer games and saving was pretty much standard.

I think the main point of failure of sharing nudes is the human on the receiving end:

  • Vengeful ex partners
  • Partners that want to show you off
  • Partners with a monetary incentive
  • Partners that leave their devices unlocked or keep your nudes in an easily accessible location

Yeah helix has become my main editor since it comes with batteries included. I do miss the vim bindings though.

I am currently in the process of setting up nix but it is a bit of rabbit hole.

I had a car with a heavy clutch. Tried out my friends car and kept accidently stomping the clutch pedal due to how relatively light it was.

Parking brake location(of cars which don’t have the traditional hand break). Drove a few rental cars and always took a few minutes to find where the button is. Recently learned there are cars that have a pedal for a parking brake, took me 15 minutes to locate.

how can something be so courageous and yet so true (slrpnk.net)

Edit: Jesus Christ, people. If you buy a $150 Thinkpad made by slave labor instead of a $1,200 MacBook made by slave labor, you’re still supporting a capitalist economy based on slave labor. We all do. We have no choice. The number of smug liberals in the comments saying “well I buy a cheap used laptop” or “well I buy...

Well an argument against Apple products specifically is that they promote anti consumer trends.

Proprietary cables, unrepairable devices, having an ecosystem that is hostile to third party devices, popularising things like sealed batteries or removal of headphone jacks.

Apple actively is making the tech world worse imo.

The argument of the cosmic plan is the reasons are beyond human understanding

The child that died slowly and painfully from a horrible disease, died for a reason. God willfully did/allowed it, but for a reason we just are unable to understand. So to a thiest this meme doesn’t make sense.

Mind you I don’t believe in this stuff but these kind of jabs are just preaching to the athiest choir.

It is sweet that you decided to repair yours instead of outright replacing it.
