Friends, my wife has made cool music for 10 years, but as introverts, we both suck at sales, so it's frustrating.

She has composed and published hundreds of songs, both piano and multi-instrumental, but we rely on pure chance for revenue. She deserves much more.

Can you please subscribe to her patreon? She publishes a diary and piano scores. And will also post regular reports about last week's compositions.

https://www.patreon.com/inspiredmelodies

She's also on the fediverse at @inspiredmelodies

Thanks!

Fyi people when you order a #Z80 today at a reputable source, the chip was built in 2020. Did you get any newer date codes?

What happens if you glue a sticker on a tesla side camera? Does it notice or does it stop detecting anything? I cant be the first one to think about that.

gileri,
@gileri@mastodon.xyz avatar

@f4grx it pops a warning that some or all cameras are obstructed (usually by fog). And still detects with the remaining cameras.

Nothing is NOT wild at #cern :

this paper about the kicker magnets (that inject and extract the beams) is a very interesting read: https://cds.cern.ch/record/1334789/files/arXiv:1103.1583.pdf

Paper is engineering oriented, not theoretical, so it's very understandable.

Have a look at the voltage/current/timing requirements for these magnets.

gsuberland,
@gsuberland@chaos.social avatar

@f4grx once you get into these speeds it's often better to think of the current as the definite integral of current over time (i.e. total charge movement). 100A for 1ns is actually less charge movement than 1mA for 1ms. it's just that the 100A pulse makes parasitic inductances a bigger challenge.

gsuberland,
@gsuberland@chaos.social avatar

@f4grx also once you get to this kind of speed the FETs come with Kelvin pins for the gate drive so you can have Kelvin connection for a separate return current path for the gate driver instead of connecting to the source pin where the load current flows.

Hate this but I have to know a minimum, curiosity is itching and I want to know the low level gore of how this shit works.

@mokona stable does not mean "without bugs" :)

It means "not being a moving target" :)

@f4grx that's what I meant.

I had forgotten how good Stefan Gotteswinter was at . I'm reviewing many of his videos again and it's so educative I'm going to rewatch a lot!

Friends, I need to clarify this:

Can a STM32H7 be programmed via SWD without an external system clock running?

Can the SWD even be accessed? I think yes, the cpu should come up with an internal clock, right?

gsuberland,
@gsuberland@chaos.social avatar

@f4grx STM32MP1 MPU bringup appnote I read yesterday says yes, it'll boot without external clock, just won't run many peripherals without external clock or crystal, so it's probably the same deal for the MCUs.

f4grx,
@f4grx@chaos.social avatar

@gsuberland thanks.

My current track layout is not so wrong, I'll try to find something exact. This is xtrkcad, one of the worst software I have ever used, but it fucking works and it's free software, so I wont complain.

f4grx,
@f4grx@chaos.social avatar

@JasperSiepkes I know, it's exceedingly well done, but can it do track layout? xtrkcad has nice features even if they feel like 2001.

@f4grx @JasperSiepkes I have to say, despite it having been discontinued long time ago, I still like lego digital designer the best and yes, it has rails and they snap nicely

I would very much want to know WHY aliexpress believes THIS (whatever it is) is something I would like to buy, after having specifically bought ONLY lego parts on this site? I mean yes, the price is great, but WTF.

jaseg,
@jaseg@chaos.social avatar

@f4grx Sometimes the vibe I'm getting from their recommendation algorithm is that they don't really do the amazon thing and try to figure out what gets bought toghether, and instead only rank products by search term similarity and general popularity. I suspect that their similarity ranking is based on the product names and descriptions, and just gets really, really confused by all the machine-translated gibberish in there.

f4grx,
@f4grx@chaos.social avatar

@jaseg i think they have a hard time profiling customers like us, given the huge amount of js that umatrix blocks at each page load. This might break a lot of their recommendztion attempts.

But yeah I've always heard that their suggestions had a nsfw component.
