I started an experiment where I started using runit/daemontools as the entrypoint to my FreeBSD jails which makes them start super fast. It's pretty great actually.

Unfortunately it seems to have the capability of tickling some bug or race condition in either VNET/ifconfig/bridge that can make the server panic.

I haven't yet figured out why it's not dropping me to debugger like it's supposed to so I can capture a backtrace...
